Hi, everyone. Welcome to GOG Mafia game #77!

This is a game of Forum Mafia. Please don't post here unless you've been directed here from the sign up thread or PM, or were otherwise told by the mod that you should post here. Exception: anyone, including dead players and non-players, may make a bump post if a player asks for it here or in the admin thread. You may also use an alt-user to make a bump post. The bump post should contain no game-relevant information.

Direct any queries you may have to the the General Discussion and Administration page or to me via PM.

Rules:

1. I, dedoporno, am the moderator for this game. If you have any issues or questions, contact me via PM.

2. Cryptoclaiming is forbidden. In short, cryptoclaiming is having people claim in some sort of, preferably nearly unbreakable, code, which makes it all but impossible for the Mafia team to win.

3. Betting among players is strictly forbidden.

4. Real Life issues and situations should and will always take priority over what happens in the game. If a player presents a real life issue as a reason on why they need a bit more time or are temporarily unavailable to partake normally in the game that reason should be accepted and respected by everyone else (including the mod). Everyone should always treat real life problems/situations in a gentlemanly manner and never try to make accusations or gain leverage in the game based on that. If these issues become too overwhelming the incapacitated player should inform their mod and ask for a replacement as soon as possible or if they are unable to do so the mod should take steps in finding a replacement for them. Everyone should be playing the game for fun and treat each other with the necessary respect. Therefore we shall always assume that every real life reason for inefficient participation in the game is 100% real and has to be taken as such. We shall also count on everyone playing the game to show proper respect and sportsmanship to their fellow players and the mod by never abusing this "free pass". If someone is caught taking advantage of everyone's good will they will be immediately allowed to find another place to play forum mafia.

5. This is a game of lying. Players are expected to lie. No statement or promise a player makes within the game has any force outside the game. As an example, a bet offered in a game is not something you can collect if you win (see also Rule 2). An exception to this are Real Life issues, as per Rule 3.
With that in mind, you might want to avoid sensitive topics, ones which would benefit from having all the participants telling the truth, till after the game is finished. For instance, someone swearing on their mother's life and/or other similar acts which in most cases are effectively equivalent to showing your PM wouldn't be tolerated and will be swiftly and harshly punished.

6. Have fun and enjoy the game. While shouting at each other is expected in a game of Mafia, please remain civil to your fellow players.

*****

I, dedoporno, strongly dislike people getting severely out of line and resorting to personal insults, especially when those are ugly and hurtful. Players who do that will get struck down without warning and right of appeal no matter how that affects the game. Please, don't be that person.

*****

7. Please bold any questions you have for me and refer to me by name or anything that will make it clear that your question is directed to me, so it's easier for me to see them. You may use bold for other reasons (like stressing a point) but please avoid doing so excessively.

8. It goes without saying that discussing this game outside this thread is prohibited but it is also said anyway.

9. Do not edit your posts for any reason!! Remember there is a forum feature that automatically merges posts made within 10 minutes. There is also a forum bug which prevents your post from appearing sometimes when it should appear on a new page. Making a second post in this case after less than 10 minutes can cause your post to be merged and appear edited. For best results either wait for another post to appear after your last one or wait for the timestamp on your last post to say at least "11 minutes ago".

10. If you die, stop posting in this thread. A single "bah" post is allowed and encouraged. Your "bah" post should not contain any game-relevant information.

11. You are expected to make a post at least once every 48 hours. If you need to be away for longer, please let me know in advance. Posting more frequently makes for a more interesting game. So try to participate as much as you can.

12. PM sharing and/or asking others to share/confirm wording from their PMs is forbidden. Paraphrasing is allowed. When in doubt about something you plan to do related to PMs ask me first.

13. If you do something intentionally in a way that goes against the spirit of the game, you will be penalized. When in doubt, ask me first.

14. Breaking rules, depending on the severity of the infraction, can get you mod-killed at my discretion. Getting mod-killed can be hazardous to your health and it means you lose regardless of whether your team wins or loses. I will also point at you and laugh. It's bad in general, so please don't get mod-killed.

15. Once a majority votes for a player, that player gets lynched. No amount of unvoting is going to help them.

16. If no majority vote is achieved before the Day ends no lynch takes place.

17. You have to read the rules before playing.

GAME-SPECIFIC RULES

**********

This game will feature a light flavor based on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The original alignments of the characters from the cartoon have absolutely no weight in-game. Don't read into it too much or you're gonna have a bad time. The important stuff will be noted clearly and publicly.

For the sake of keeping true to the spirit of the source material, flavorwise no one will be dying (the terms "lynch" and "nightkill" will still be used when referring to game mechanisms, though).

The game uses a closed setup.

There are no Cults, Jesters or bastard elements.

To vote someone, you have to bold your vote. Preferably on a separate line. Like this:

vote Joppo

Similarly, to remove your vote just

unvote Joppo

Voting and unvoting without bolding won't count. The most recent valid vote counts. You don't have to unvote before voting again. Even though it's not strictly required to include the name of the unvoted person it makes it easier for me to keep track, so please try to do so. You may kick, tickle, scold or do lots of interesting things to each other - but those won't count as votes. Only the word "vote" is a vote.

You may also vote no-lynch. A majority for no-lynch will end the Day without a lynch.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------

Sample PM

Welcome, Joppo, you are Spikor, a Town Rules Supporter.

Abilities:
Your weapon is your vote.
Each Night you may choose to target one player for the sake of a sample PM.

Win condition:
You win when there are no longer any threats to the Town and there is at least one Town player alive.

GOG Mafia game #77: Masters of the Universe Edition

"Heheheh!" Skeletor laughs, "There it is! Castle Grayskull!"

The group of Evil Warriors stands in front of the Jawbridge, getting ready to storm it and take it over once and for all.
Skeletor mounted on Panthor. Evil-Lyn, Beast Man and Trap Jaw right next to them. Screeech making quick swoops from the sky.

"Sorceress, I'll control castle Grayskull! Stop me if you dare!" Skeletor raises his Havoc Staff.

"Attach the rope, Beast Man." Skeletor commands.

Beast Man hurls a massive hook towards the Jawbridge and everyone starts pulling together.

"Use all your power!!" Skeletor's voice echoes against the massive skull-shaped fortress.

The Sorceress appears out of thin air at one of the battlements and looks down on the attackers.

"Your power is not match for mine, Skeletor. Go back to Snake Mountain. We have enough trouble without you showing up!"

"Trouble? I'll show you trouble, Sorceress!" Skeletor giggles, "I have managed to shrink down the petrification blasters of the Collector aircraft into hand-held devices which can turn anyone to stone! Dare to call for the help to that muscle-bound oaf He-Man and his brainless idiot friends!"

"I... I must get help!" the Sorceress gets concerned.

She closes her eyes, puts her hands in the air and sends a summon to her greatest ally: "He-Man! Come to Grayskull!"

A moment later the mighty pulls of the Evil Warriors finally make the Jawbridge give way with monstrous creaking. Grayskull is about to fall...

The gate opens and there they are!

He-Man, She-Ra, Man-At-Arms, Cringer, Battle Cat, Swift Wind and Madame Razz - ready to fight to make a stand against Skeletor and his minions.

"How is it possible for Cringer and Battle Cat... Never mind, we'll figure that out later. I see you're here once again, Skeletor." He-Man stares his nemesis down, "Turn around now and we'll let you leave in peace."

"Hahaha! Don't think I'm intimidated by you or your cronies, you boob!" Skeletor yells. "Evil-Lyn, enchant everyone so we can petrify them one by one!!"

"With pleasure, Skeletor." Evil-Lyn says and sends a powerful magic blast towards the group of Heroic Warriors.

"Oh no, I can't allow this to happen..." the Sorceress whispers to herself and directs a mystical ray of her own in the direction of the Evil Warriors.

The two blasts collide mid-air and a great, blinding explosion illuminates the whole region.
A few moments later everyone starts getting up and slowly coming to their senses.
Almost everyone, as the Sorceress and Evil-Lyn are nowhere to be seen.

"What?"
"Where am I?"
"What am I doing here?"
"Aren't you me?!?!?!"
"What's going on?"
"How did I get here?"

Everyone appears to be extremely confused and not exactly themselves.

"Listen, everyone!" everyone hears a voice in their head as if it's coming from their own thoughts.

"It's me, the Sorceress. Evil-Lyn's magic spell tampered with my own and got me trapped in another dimension. I can only assume the same happened to her. I sense there was another side-effect and not everyone who came to attack Grayskull is willing to do so anymore but also some of its protectors may have gotten corrupted by the power of the mixed-up spell."

Everyone stands still and just listens to the ethereal voice.

"I'm hurt and too weak to uncover the corruption from here. You'll have to figure out who the affected people are and incapacitate them until I manage to escape here and return to Grayskull to revert the damage."

"How do we do that exactly?" Madame Razz asks.

"Man-At-Arms..." the Sorceress calls, "You still carry that stasis ray you created during the dragon invasion, don't you?"

"I do." Man-At-Arms responds and pulls the device out.

"Very well. Everyone as a group decide who you trust the least and use it on them." the Sorceress continues, "With their mind forced to rest I'll be able to detect any evil intentions deep down."

"But what if they're good now?" Cringer whimpers.

"That's a risk you'll have to take, otherwise they may overtake Grayskull and then everything will be lost." the Sorceress warns.

"Let's do it then!" Battle Cat roars.

"Arghgrhrgr!" Beast Man snarls.

Trap Jaw snaps his metallic teeth, Panthor growls, Screeech makes a high-pitch scream. She-Ra smiles and pats Swift Wind while he neighs in response.

Everyone appears to be ready.

"By the power of Grayskull!" He-Man raises the Sword of Power in the air, "Let's begin."

DkKoba1: vote: joe
I see why, he was lurky for the first 3 minutes of the game and 7 minutes latter hasn't even come back to defend himself.
Vote DkKoba
DkKoba1 seems a bit too eager to vote people off. Hmpf.

A medal of honor, for me, thank you sir beast man
Hmmm well I've just thought, FrostburnPhoenix voted for DrKoba1 after that player voted for Joe, seems fair with no info. And then Catventurer said DrKoba1 was too keen to vote people off. Isn't that what we're supposed to do to generate debate Catventurer? Or are you a bad guy trying to build a train on a townee?

All I did was make an observation based on the fact that he was voting for someone that hasn't even posted yet.

People who played with me in the prior game would know that when I said, "DkKoba1 seems a bit too eager to vote people off. Hmpf." That I'm essentially saying, "I don't like this type of voting, but I won't do anything about it." I'm essentially sitting back and waiting for DkKoba1 to explain himself - is this some bullshit random vote that means nothing?

If we're going to have a "no making observations" rule, we may as well hand the game over to Team Mafia. Observing people and how they behave is one of the ways to figure out who is mafia and who isn't.

This goes completely against what you said in post #7 -

You're also seem okay with some observations in post #12 (that I quoted) but not others.

So which is it?

Are we allowed to observe how people post and conduct themselves or should we mind our own business?

One thing that everyone who played the prior game definitely knows for a fact about me is that I get really suspicious of anyone who seems to contradict themselves.

Not because you voted for me, but because you seem to be contradicting yourself.

In theory voting for someone early helps town. The following discussion should help us solve who is who. That is my issue with your post

As for you thinking I'm contradicting myself, can you please explain how you found this conclusion?
