supplementscene: I never read OP regardless of alignment but I've skimmed OP since and don't believe the statement about random draw is there.
avatar
dedoporno: Boi. Did you at least read your own PM? Are you sure you are who you think you are?

avatar
trentonlf: I’m not going to get into it with you again. You’re a self centered individual that I don’t like playing with. For this game I find your play scummy and I’ve stated why.
avatar
dedoporno: Let me ask you something. Given that scene and you aren't exactly BFFs and his whole "thing", how much of your suspicion towards him do you think is biased? How certain are you that you aren't just finding scumminess (that's a real word, read a book!) only because you expect to find it in him? I'm not defending him, I just want to know how much you are sold on this and how much is based on personal feelings.

avatar
GameRager: This is odd...why would a townie want to be lynched and possibly help his fellow players lose? :\
avatar
dedoporno: A Townie wouldn't want to be lynched but would sure want to get lunched. Free meal is the best meal.

avatar
Bookwyrm627: Is anyone else remembering Joe's comment last game about how one of ZFR, Joe, and whoever wasn't scum? :)
avatar
dedoporno: I was about to bring that up after something Joe said in this game but then I forgot. Can't really remember what he said.

Where am I?!

avatar
gogtrial34987: Honestly, if you're town, it wouldn't surprise me if your wagon was all-town. I can easily see scum just sitting back, predicting that you'll practically self-lynch.
avatar
dedoporno: This is the most annoying bit of all - the likeliness of this happening. I have PTSD from such things in the past...
If anyone else was doing and saying the same things as Scene I would have voted them. Just because I don’t like him doesn’t mean I see everything he does as scummy, I can separate my personal feelings toward him from the game. If I felt that I couldn’t I would not play in the same game as him.

Understood. I just wanted to make sure, thanks for answering.

If this is true, I'm willing to vote for myself so long as 6 players are willing to lynch you on Day 2 if I show up Town. It will either show one of the following:

1. You're Mafia
2. You're unable to seperate personal feelings from Mafia games

If it's 2, Town probably lose, so that is totally on you. If it's 1, Town get a Mafia hit.

If we have 6 people agreeing on this I vote supplementscene

If you happen to be Town, you're fucking Town over with your personal biases
Mafia players right now

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise?
avatar
GameRager: Well then he's off my radar...for now anyways.
avatar
dedoporno: Why? No one should be off your radar just because someone else told you whatever. This is a game of lies and deception. Trust only your self-verified information fully.
Which is why I added FOR NOW. ;)

I'm confused, are you saying Trent is a Sith Lord?
avatar
supplementscene: I never read OP regardless of alignment
avatar
SirPrimalform: This is starting to mildly annoy me as well. ZFR stated in the sign up thread and the OP of the game that the game is C9++ with no twists and a link to what C9++ is. We all miss things sometimes, I get it (I missed some stuff in the last game). When people point out what you've missed though, the least you can do is pay attention to that rather than plough on in wilful ignorance.
As many people have explained to you many times now, the setup is randomised. There might be a serial killer, but whether there is or isn't was decided by dice rolls.

avatar
supplementscene: I was unaware ZFR was attributing randomly
avatar
SirPrimalform: I explained exactly this to you on the first bloody page.
Since when is stating their could be a SK a twist?

GameRager: Check post 172 again...I also mention flub and scene are on my radar as well. :)
Yes, and?

avatar
Bookwyrm627: You've got some vague declarations with support that would be generous if labeled ephemeral.
I'm a dancer. I must always be light and ephemeral.

avatar
Bookwyrm627: Why, why, and why?
Gogtrial34987 is throwing some weird shade at me for my RVS vote. Blotunga's 5th vote and quick unvote rubs me the wrong way.

avatar
gogtrial34987: Both of you just skip completely over my posts, don't you? :'(
Of course not. I read the CliffsNotes as soon as they come out.

avatar
gogtrial34987: Hmm, how "common" is the belief that you can tell scum from their position on a wagon? I know scene's always on about it, and I've seen it come up maybe a handful of times since I started playing, but it just feels so out-there WIFOM and situational to me...
"I've seen it come up maybe a handful of times since I started playing."

Is that not often enough for it to be useful?

avatar
gogtrial34987: @agentcarr: Could you name any instances where you remember scum successfully being found due to looking at wagon positions?
I've played a bunch of games over a span of maybe three years? I can't remember any of them. :) I'm just watching for people voting scummily.

avatar
gogtrial34987: Sadly asking to be lynched and giving an appearance of not enjoying the game at all are standard features for flub, regardless of alignment. Our antics appear to bore him, presumably due to them not being anticsy enough. He keeps coming back for more, though, so we must be better than the alternative!
I take offense on flubbucket's behalf. Or I would, if I thought he cared.

Joking aside, flubbucket is one of my favourite players because he doesn't take this game seriously. It's a beautiful thing.

agentcarr16: Yes, and?
And that's about it/for the reasons stated. Not much more to it really.

(I tend to "play by ear" when picking potential scum and skim most of the replies for "tells" that I can see)

Same, right now.

I have been reading stuff, but kept my mouth shut because the last time I really stepped out I got nearly fried by 1) my carelessness and 2) others picking up on it.

Scene, as I said elsewhere, I have discord on mobile; reading this forum on my mobile doesn't work as well--no extensions, among other things.

To answer questions, I dislike Scene's play this early on, but not enough to lunch him.

I like Flub and Joe in general; some of the funniest parts of these games I can directly attribute to them. However, this doesn't mean that they--one, t'other, or twain--aren't scum.

I dislike Carr's jump on Trent for no real reason. I personally think Trent doesn't stink. Yet.
Blot & Dedo have both been iffy at times; I can see Blot's(?) test vote to draw fire; iirc, he did similar in the last game, where he was town. (Unless it was the previous game?)

@Gogtrial my "mod vote" was present in the first game I played, and will probably be present in the next game I play. Shrug.
It's a way of saying "I'm here and reading, but have nothing to say that hasn't already been said."

If you’re really town that’s a horrible idea, and an insult to everyone playing the game. Don’t try to twist this into something it’s not. I’ve voted you for exactly the reasons I’ve already stated, there’s nothing personal to it. My personal opinion of you has no reflection on my vote.

It isn't. It means I'm aware that it's a belief held by some people, but not more than that.
I'm pondering angles about how you... 'enforced' ("gave legitimacy to"? something in that direction) scene's early 'dismissal' of the importance of your vote as it "only took the vote to 2", by stressing that votes 3-4 are pivotal.

But is it actually "voting scummily"? Are those wagon-positions really more likely to be filled by scum, or is that a misconception that's held widely enough that it's an easy reason for scum to latch on to as justification for a vote? (FWIW, I understand the reasoning; scum don't want the attention from starting a wagon or hammering - but scum knows that this is known, so wouldn't they, etc, etc. And at the end of all that, is there still any value in basing votes on wagon positions?)

JoeSapphire: Okay now that scene's answered me, how about you?

What do you think of scene?
What do you think of gogtrial? Am I being foolish for trusting him? Is he being so for trusting me?
Any good thoughts?
I fuckin' hate my ISP and my landline provider. Both are literal organized theft!

Anyway, I am atill iffy about scene, and I think it likely that scene and trent are on two different teams, with more of an inclination that scene is scummy. He was the kind who messed up the flavor for Captain Sapphire THE MOVIE, which cost him with his immediate lynch. While there is a slim chance he's town, I think he jumped the gun. Even if he is Town, he is, as Trent says, going on about pointless conversations; namely the Mafia wiki one, and then not reading the OP. So whether he is town or scum, I wouldn't be surprised if he was the lynch of Day 1.

gogtrial, I don't have much feelings about. His point of reading the wiki and the setup of the game and all that stuff is not alignment indicative for me.

Unfortunately with my ISP being a piece of crap, I can't really track the game all that well. Anyway, feel free to ask more!

It's a way of saying "I'm here and reading, but have nothing to say that hasn't already been said."
I wasn't questioning your mod vote. I was questioning why scene found trent's mod vote noteworthy, but didn't comment at all about yours until the second time I asked him about it, at which point he basically dismissed your mod vote as unimportant.

If scene is scum, then this difference in attitude toward near-identical actions might point a little bit more in your direction than in trent's.

supplementscene: I'm confused, are you saying Trent is a Sith Lord?
No, that was just the setup to use the "Ironic" meme properly in the context of the line I quoted.
avatar
supplementscene: And if you read those threads as you say you have can you state how I slipped in them?
avatar
supplementscene: You didn't say I slipped in either game but I did slip in different ways and you don't note this. Several Town and Mafia players felt I fucked up early in both games where I played as Mafia. It had nothing to do with game setup though. But as you said you skimread the games then perhaps if you are Town you didn't note that.
Ah, now I get this question. You were asking me to prove that I read the threads by asking me about something else that happened in them.

You slipped in #55 by mis-quoting your fake PM role as "doctor townie" (though that wasn't enough to do you in), by not having an answer about 'your' ability to self-protect, and by post-merging after claiming that you were on a final warning from ZFR, and then not getting modkilled.

In #57 you completely ignored flavour by claiming you visited people's "houses" at night (while on a space station without a night flavour), and got the various types of cop confused.

Sadly, these are things I just remember from having read them as they happened; not from my skim during this game.
