Johny.: Please contact support here: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us and describe what do you mean by discount code. :) As far as I know we have only codes to redeem games for free (you can do it here: https://www.gog.com/redeem ).
avatar
Geralt_of_Rivia: While he most likely talks about a gift key GOG does have discount codes and you as a Blue should know that. ;-)
Wow, I've never seen one. :) Probably because I have everything for free. ;)) Thx for teaching me a new thing about GOG!

haydenaurion: Minor issue with Galaxy, it will periodically start increasing the disk usage anywhere from 20% up to 50% according to task manager. Running version 1.2.20 and Galaxy wasn't doing this before and it doesn't seem to be updating games so I don't know why it would be doing this.
Hi haydenaurion,

that's a bit worrying. I mean, there is a periodic background check for game updates that could do some disk operations, but it shouldn't be 50%. Could you report a bug on http://mantis.gog.com, and attach your logs from C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs ? A zip of everything would be best. I'll try to take a look. Also, please indicate at what time you saw the disk usage and how long it hang around (like 10s, a minute, or longer than a minute) so I can compare than information with what the logs say.

Done. I used WinRAR to zip them, I hope I got it right.
About notifications in Windows 10:

PLEASE, use Action Center for desktop notifications.

I can't find a way to read missed notifications once I didn't got a chance to read them an a very short time they're displayed (I need to first adjust my screen magnifier and position my magnified screen to be actually able to read any notifications)

Any chance to set notification display duration? I have set 30 secs for Action Center notifications.

Any chance to set font size of notifications?

And last - any chance for direct link to this topic from Galaxy's menu? And I think there should be separate forum branch for GOG Galaxy

No problem, thanks for the logs :) I'll look into that.

We were considering that, but we decided to go for notifications looking the same on all systems, the same in-overlay and on the desktop, and as customizable as we needed. We will be adding a way to read most missed notification types in the nearest Galaxy update (though the system won't include notifications about "game updated" or "game installed").

If the notification size is a problem, what's your screen resolution? And do you have Windows scaling enabled?

We didn't plan this, but I'll make a note :)

I don't think there's enough being talked about Galaxy to warrant it's own forum branch, and linking to a specific topic, is... I'm not sure it's worth it :)

Any news on making overlay work with more games, especially older ones like Heroes 3 and Neverwinter Nights?

I've heard there were plans for every game to work with the overlay, but if I didn't miss anything, no new games were made compatible with it ever since the overlay starter working for more titles than just a few selected. ;)

It's possible everything may be running as normal and I just didn't notice that before.
Hey,

we have released GOG Galaxy 1.2.22 containing a new top menu already known from public Beta updates. We hope it will help you be in touch with everything that's going on in GOG as well as with your friends.

For MacOS users we have renamed Galaxy bundle name to "GOG Galaxy.app" to make it prettier :)

Other than that we have fixed some bugs.

Full changelog you can find in Galaxy or in the sticked post on this forum
Hi there, since the new UI features that came from GOG.com any idea if we might be getting GAME updates too? At this moment Galaxy shows me no updates in my Library - MY COLLECTION (258) ... but when I go to GOG.com it shows me MY COLLECTION (258, 6 UPDATED). I know Galaxy updates games by itself but A LOT of us store game copies somewhere else so it is always nice to know when a game gets updated. Thanks!
GOG Galaxy updated to 1.2.22 (windows 10 user), and i cant use it now. the GOG G is grey and cant click on games or anything. already deleted (uninstal) and install it again, same problems.

any help ?

thx :D
Ok, this is now the third update that renders Galaxy incapable to launch after a restart.

It's active in the Task Manager but the Galaxy Client Service is constantly starting and shutting down again. If I'm lucky it might straigthen itself out after 10 minutes and finally launch the client but that's not the norm, that's an exception.

Considering that I have 150 GB worth of games installed, spanning two drives because the more demanding ones are on a SSD, reinstalling Galaxy is always a tiresome job.

Please fix this, Galaxy is literally the only Game/Store front client out there that constantly breaks after an update.

Sorry, too late. I've uninstalled Galaxy and deleted any and all files related to it as I have a feeling that there are some weird things going on with the webcache, the logs were full of entries like the ones below, dozens of those, to be precise. (Had those in the clipboard, actual logs are gone)

2017-09-05 15:36:18.162 [Information][SubSystem installer thread (4)]: Fetching product configuration for '1403000599'.

And this as well.

I also noticed that the logs identify my system differently, one as Windows 8 (Build 9200) and one as Windows 10 64Bit, the latter is true.

Maybe this still helps in figuring out what's going on.

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to try and help us out :)

It seems that (unfortunately) not enough context is included in the log portions you pasted for us to get an idea of what exactly went wrong. Of course, if you're still interested in helping us out, you could re-install the GOG Galaxy to get fresh logs, and post them to mantis.gog.com ;)
