Perhaps I missed it but it appears that the setting to close Galaxy upon exit has been deleted. It would be greatly appreciated if this could be corrected instead of having to go through the additional steps in the notification area. I looked several times.

Yea that has been removed (we don't know why).. you can also close Galaxy though by going to the GOG COM logo, and pressing exit.

On macOS the Command-q keyboard shortcut quits the app instantly. Perhaps it's Control-q on Windows?

nicohvc: After the instalation I can't run galaxy.
Seems like I need to download an api. I'm using Windows 8. Perhaps updating to 8.1 will fix it. Does somebody recomends just download that api individually?

With windows 7 in other PC galaxy goes fine.
Try this one: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2/post3782
Hope it helps :)

Thanks! seems like I need to enable windows update because the official microsoft links quoted said "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found.
The URL may be misspelled or the page you're looking for is no longer available." I can't believe that.

Edit: Now I've tried with the english download (before was the spanish) and it works and fix the problem (just the 1st api) Thank you +1 ! and thanks to venom too!

I have a problem with games launched from GOG-Galaxy. They minimise from time to time and I do not know why. Even when GOG-Galaxy is the only program running besides the game it happens. Is that a known problem and are there solutions?

Also,is it now fixed that the game will not close when Galaxy has a new update?
Am I the only one with a lot of stuttering in The Witcher 3 when the Overlay is enabled?
Thanks for feature update and release out of beta.

One question, how to change the output folder for taken screenshots? I don't see such option.
The Witcher (1) doesn't seem to track playtime or sync saves to the cloud. I have to start the game as admin too. So perhaps there's a connection? The issue seems to remain when I start Galaxy as admin though. Is anyone experiencing the same issue?
1.26 does not display expanded list icons when going/starting offline it's really irritating, downgrading until fixed...

BKGaming: Anyone else having issues with Galaxy not wanting to load? On the website everything loads fine but in Galaxy 1.2.6
I'm getting very slow loading to the point where images won't even load. I checked my internet speed and it's decent enough.

EDIT: Yep if I load www.gog.com it loads fast and error free... but if I try to load https://embed.gog.com/ in the browser, nothing but issues. It did finally load after multiple refreshes. Still missing images on game pages in Galaxy.

EDIT2: Galaxy is pretty much unusable right now for me... store is a blank grey page that won't load. Images in the sidebar for installed games won't load. Headline images for news on the game pages won't load.

skeletonbow: I had the same issues with images not loading on the game library pages, but left it sit there and a minute later I came back and they had finally loaded. I also get blank grey pages on occasion and if I grab the title bar of the maximized window and yank on it and it detaches to a normal window, then throw it back up at the top of the screen and it re-maximizes, then Galaxy forces a redraw and everything looks fine. It's done that on and off since it originally launched, but I've noticed it more often lately.

I believe this is due to their optimizations to make Galaxy use less resources when idle. I believe it detects idle and disables rendering etc. to reduce CPU load and whatnot, but then doesn't always detect activity to kick back into gear and refresh the screen again, so you have to force it, but since GOG has not found the wisdom to include a refresh button on F5 or CTRL-R like standard browsers, the only way to do so it would seem is to resize the window and back to force it. Happens a lot for me. The library sidebar icons for games randomly disappear and don't come back still too until you muck around with them a bit.
Thanks for this info, yeah it's irritating especially if you game offline like me by default!

Pretty nice update so far, but is there any way to make the changelog for games bigger?
It is quite a small window on high resolution.
I'd like two things:

1) An option to stop Galaxy from installing start menu stortcuts. (For games.)

2) An option to stop it from picking up every GOG game I have installed. I dont want every GOG game to be managed by Galaxy.

Are the keys for the overlay and screen shot not rebindable or am I just not seeing it?
avatar
yongra: I cannot connect. I just got updated to 1.2.6 and it keeps on saying cannot connect to GOG Service and GOG Galaxy shutdown.
avatar
DDT2005: I have one computer that has no trouble at all and another that does, and exhibits this exact same behavior. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Galaxy to no avail. BTW, only one computer connected at a time to gog.com.

When I try to start the GalaxyCommunication service manually, I get the following logged in the Windows Event Viewer:
Log Name: System
Source: Service Control Manager
Date: 4/25/2017 11:57:55 AM
Event ID: 7000
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: ASROCK3
Description:
The GalaxyCommunication service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.\

Running Build 15063.138 of Windows 10 Pro v1703 if that helps. Remember, it is working fine in my Windows 10 Home computer, same version and build.

Just tried a third computer. That installation of GOG, just like with the first computer updated itself to the latest version by itself. It works fine now also. Here's the twist: the troubled computer told me to download the latest version of Galaxy from the website. I did. I installed it on top of the older installation. It is not working now.

Update: This problem is not going away. I suspect there's a problem in the registry.
Yes, exactly the same here. Before the most recent update, I almost never had a problem with Galaxy, now it cannot stay up for more than ~10 seconds. The GalaxyCommunicationService is apparently pretty buggy.

In C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs\CommunicationServiceInitialization.log, there are hundreds of lines like the following:
