JRobertDobbs: Is there any way to stop it from creating start menu shortcuts? They're cluttering up my start menu and all ther launch shortcuts also launch Galaxy first for some inexplicable reason, and thus are useless to me since the only reason I would launch a game from the start menu is if I didn't want to wait the 10 minutes it takes for galaxy to load up.
I would also like to have an offline functionality. Galaxy frequently gets stuck on the update client, when I try to launch it during an outage.
It's a hassle to launch my games, because the games also try to launch Galaxy, which then gets stuck again.
very good
I hope the GOG store stays the same after Galaxy 2.0 release - that we're able to download installers via browser without GOG Galaxy launcher.
Apparently GOG Galaxy doesn't actually want me to buy GOG games lol.

I love the idea of galaxy but it needs A lot of interface work.

I log on and the first thing I want to do is to see if you guys carry a game (or games) that steam has but would rather buy here on GOG. But, oh , wait.... There's NO obvious search function to search GOG's game inventory when you log in.
You put the search in the Brows All section, which makes ZERO sense, because I don't want to brows all your games, I want to SEARCH for ONE.
Why would I EVER think to click Brows All. Browsing is not searching.
Re-name it to Advanced Search if you are going to keep Search hidden there.
PUT A SEARCH FUNCTION AT THE TOP NEXT TO THE SCREEN NAME. There is plenty of space.

~Browse All~
So I click on all Browse all Games, oh surprise surprise no sub genera Filter here either.
But I can finally search. Its a miracle! A basic Genera filter is not enough.

The entire layout in Browse All Games screams advanced search / search editor but missing the sub genera options to define the categories to make it such.
Not having the sub genera categories on the right in no way indicates that you can search for those sub generas (like rogue like) in the search bar.
So instead of searching, our immediate reaction is to think your genera options are trash, and just leave.
If you want people to actually Browse in the BROWSE section, it might be in your best interest to give them the tools to do so.
Btw You can't search for some of the most common labels in gaming in your search bar, like 4x games.
So if I want to browse that category I have to look through a giant list of crap for which I care nothing about.
Do you realize how many games fit in the label of "Strategy"?
Most games DO!

Im not going to sit here and brows through a huge lists of games in hopes that you guys 'might' carry some of the 4x games worth buying.
That being said I am fully prepared to pay full price at GOG, just to support GOG (because I care about GOG / Cd project Red).
But galaxies layout feels like it wants me to buy every game but the game - I - want to buy.
Better categories, labels, and search / browse tools please guys.

I don't have time for a interface this user unfriendly.
Most people don't.
Id bet my life that's its costing you guys huge amounts of profits because people new to this service don't want to deal with this or don't have the patience to deal with it.
The younger generation wants what they want, when they want it.
If they can't get it when they want it or have difficulty doing so, they immediately look elsewhere.
Especially when Steam is soooo easy to use / refined.
People are getting sick of steam, but if Galaxy doesn't make it easy to stay at GOG, They wont.
If you need to copy a few ideas from steam, DO IT.
Steam does A LOT right. It's just a BS service that shouldn't exist.
Same with the Epic games launcher.

Settings
For the love of god just put the word - Settings - under the GOG icon on the left.
The drop down arrow is tiny so the GOG icon just looks like some advertising logo sitting there for no reason.
I know people that actually had to search Google to find the settings.
Unacceptable.
Is it a big deal? Not for some tiny dev team new to the circuit trying to do nothing for the gaming industry.
Which GOG is not.
You guys are competing with steam, and now the scumbags at epic games.
GOG can't just get away with doing it, they have to do it better if they want pull in the masses to ensure the future of gaming is a bright one.

As far as the looks go... Honestly im a little shocked. Visually Galaxy lets off the cheap cell phone app vibe.
When I think of GOG / CD Project Red, I think mature, sleek, cool, Modern Art, Professional, DRM free, the future of gaming, and sexy AF.
Not, cheap, un-artistic, tap here, slide left.
Its fine if your on a cell phone, I guess. Id still trend it up a bit though.
Shopping online with PC, not so great.
Most of the people I recommend GOG to are PC gamers and they immediately compare the looks to steam, and leave shortly after.
Some buy a game, but most don't. Even though it was a game they were going to buy on steam and GOG carried it.
They just go back steam and buy there.
Upsetting to say the least.

GOG / CD Project Red doesn't need to be number one, they just need to be relevant.
Galaxy needs to do its part and keep up with the competition.
Looks / ease of use can go a looong way.
Highly recommend a built in spellchecker.
Its not an issue of need, but everyone else has got one and it just looks bad when you don't. Its one those quality of life kinds of things that a lot of people appreciate.

What an improvements with achievements offline, can you tell further, please? Starting next week, I'm gonna switch from above-ground transport to subway while tripping to my work and back home, where cell connection is very unstable, so it's kind of vital for me since I play in GOG games on my trips.
Is there any way to stop it from creating start menu shortcuts? They're cluttering up my start menu and all ther launch shortcuts also launch Galaxy first for some inexplicable reason, and thus are useless to me since the only reason I would launch a game from the start menu is if I didn't want to wait the 10 minutes it takes for galaxy to load up.
Neverwinter Nights, ENhanced Edition hangs up when I try to load it in GOG Galaxy. I am using windows 7.
When it reaches the Beamdog Logo, I get the spinning Windows circle, and it stalls, and I have to go to task master to kill it.
It only happnes when I try to start NN:EE through Galaxy. when I start it from the desktop icon or the exe fiile in the game folder it starts no problem.

This started happening after I installed themost recent Premiumum Module Tyrants of the Moonsea. Don't know it this has any connectin with the problem.
It's not a biggie because I can still run the game if i don't use Galaxy to s try to start it, but it is a little annoying.
I figured this fits in better here then the NN forums.

In some Windows configuration we detected wrongly whether there is internet connection available, because of that SDK was not working correctly (e.g. unlocking achievements), as it treated failures like real failures instead of acting in "offline mode".

I'm not sure if this somehow related to my issue, but... will Galaxy count my achievements that were made during those brief periods of time when I was offline (thanks to vanishing cell connection between subway stations) but register them in my profile/GOG databases afterwards, when my connection is back? Lately I lost some achievements in Shadow Warrior 2 because of that. (It's not that I'm total sucker for them, but hey, if they are exist in Galaxy, why not count on them? And there are some games decent enough to strive for gaining all of them.)
Galaxy 1.2.59 now seems to automatically import games which were installed via offline installer, without Galaxy having been involved at all. Is that intended behaviour? Thanks!
It's been like that for ages, if you're using a recent enough installer and installing to the folder Galaxy expects to find games in.

Edit: it has if the Galaxy client's running during the installation anyway. Otherwise I'm not sure.

No, the client wasn't running during installation. Also, the offline installers were downloaded via gog downloader, so they don't include the Galaxy files (I suppose).
