== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

Somehow, Galaxy Client moved to a different folder. Couldn't move it because galaxy is always open. Next day, when I tried to launch Galaxy, got a message that crtical components were missing so I reinstalled Galaxy and deleted the old stuff from the wrong folder. Everything seemed back to normal. But all my games were gone (of course :) ) so I tried installing the one I am currently playing, Gothic I, and ----- nothing happened. It says checking local files then returns to the page with the install button without installing. Any ideas of what I should do (other then installing the old way, sans Galaxy)?

EDIT: Tried installing another game from my library - same result.

lordhoff: The risk is entirely on the owner's system, not the host system.
Not always, but as long as GOG stays on top of blocking versions from connecting when certain risk are found then more than likely.

Good enough :)
Greetings GOG masters. Two Simple yet major quality of life improvement for Galaxy (in my humble opinion).

1. The option to mark a game for "Never Update" (no pop ups, no notify, no blue highlights, nothing!)

2. This is major one (but easy peasy to fix). Please fix the search button on Galaxy forums. The search works fine in an individual thread. But for instance when I go to "The Witcher" forum, I should be able to pull up the search box and type "Vsync" and get results for all the threads in The Witcher forum!

Great work on the platform, I appreciate you all. Keep up the good work ; )
I would like to report one little bug:

When I'm on the "Backup and Goodies" page of a game and change the language, then it sometimes switches back quickly to the old setting before I can click on the download link. It has happened repeatedly that I downloaded the wrong language version and only realizing it afterwards. (for reference: my standard game language in the settings is set to "German", on the "Backup and Goodies" page usually English is selected (sometime Russian), so I change it to German manually but it switches back, sometimes within a fraction of a second)

This happened on my old computer and now also on my new one (both Windows 10, but different brand, different GPU etc.)
So I just noticed something about GOG Galaxy that has litterally cost me about $50 (thanks for that extra bill btw), I had a download set to paused last night, today, when I booted the computer up to check something unrelated to gaming I didn't think to check to see if the pause was still in effect - when I use Steam if I pause a DL it stays that way till I say otherwise.

Just now I check GOG to look for a game and notice that its downloading, I look and OH joy, Witcher 3 was nearly 75% downloaded - yet I had it paused last night. Your system REALLY can't be doing that, as of right now I actually can't afford ANY games because of that major flaw in your system.

Yes I may sound bitter but at least Steam (which I do hate) hasn't cost me $50 in surprise data charges because they have a functioning pause button.
We've released GOG Galaxy Client 1.2.27 Beta (it means you have to enable preview updates to get it).

Most visible change is a dialog that will be shown if the cloud save sync fails due to not enough space in the cloud (very common Cloud Sync fail reason).
There were also some bugfixes, and some internal code changes that shouldn't affect you in any way.

For changelog, go to GOG Galaxy or pinned post above.
This might have already been discussed before and I apologize if it already has but is there any news on Linux Version Galaxy?

Thanks

"- GOG Galaxy will no longer fail to update itself in some instances due to insufficient permissions "

Still having issues in that regard, sadly.
*that turned out to be caused by my AV software, so that's no longer an issue*

Thank you for the information.

So now GOG Galaxy is launched anytime I launch a GOG game. This uses up resources and such with zero benefit to me - the user. TBH, this is why I ditched Steam. I don't like apps running on my systems that add no value to me at the time.

Yes, GOG Galaxy is an easy way to manage my GOG games, but it is not needed to play games - unless it is actually being used as a DRM check. I doubt that is the case, as it would be a violation of all things GOG.

So, if this is a new requirement, could GOG explain what Galaxy is doing when it launches and why this is now a requirement? I am cool with it, if there is something critical happening here. But otherwise, it feels shady.

Thanks,
S

Just create a new shortcut for the game.exe or change the actual shortcut. You dont need Galaxy in the background if you dont want to.

It's not a requirement of course. :)

Feel free to change the shortcuts at any time. To find the game executable, you can use MORE -> Manage installation -> Show folder

Some users have Galaxy Client running in background - and when you run the game through Galaxy (via "Galaxyfied" :P shortcut) - it allows you to have the game overlay, game time tracking, achievements etc. If it's just a single-player game and you don't care about game time tracking, or achievements - you can omit Galaxy.
