Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

klappis: So the Scan and import feature haven't really worked with any gog-installers until recently despite being there for ages? So the only option is to import them manually? Unfortunately the "import folder" doesn't work with games installed in the old galaxyclient folder.
No it's worked for a long while now though sometimes it has been buggy in the past.

klappis: How can i see which gog-installers are goggalaxy compatible or not?
If the game was installed with a newer installer it's probably compatible (not to be confused with the Galaxy bundled installers, these are separate. But they should also be compatible without issue.). The best way to tell is to look into the games installation folder and look at the files. I believe if you see files like "goggame-galaxyFileList" and other galaxy related files then it should be a compatible Galaxy installation and Galaxy should be able to detect it using scan and import..

Otherwise yes you have to use the manual option for each game unfortunately. Those files are what allows scan and import to work and to be able to detect the game.

Not all of the installers have been made compatible yet.

TheTomasz: There’s also a new menu notification system and some improvements to desktop notifications.
Yikes I just re-installed Galaxy and updated to the latest beta after week or more of not getting on. Had 8+ desktop overlay notifications fire off at the same time because I had 8 notifications wafting for me. Hope there is a limit to these, next time they might fill my entire screen. :P

Anyway we can combine this into a single desktop notification? Like "Hey you have 8 notications waiting..." or something?

---

On an unrelated note, I tried to buy Doom 3 BFG edition via Galaxy and every time I would add it to the cart it would disappear. I guess GOG doesn't want my money... :P

Hi folks,

we just did a double release - 1.2.20 on the main channel, and 1.2.21 for the BETA. 1.2.20 includes mostly accumulated bugfixes from the previous BETA releases, but we're still keeping the new menu on BETa. Here's the changelog:

# 1.2.20 (August 25, 2017)
## Changes and Improvements:
- [Windows] CPU usage improvements for GOG Galaxy Overlay
- [Windows] Overlay will now react to change of keyboard layout (eg. from EN to RU characters)
- Improved version detection of imported games. Galaxy will also not perform file adjustment if it's not needed. Supported only by newer games
- Importing and updating The Witcher 3: GOTY (DVD version) will properly use differential patch mechanism (greatly reduced download size)
- Galaxy update popup made more reliable

## Bugfixes:
- Game updates will no longer fail with disk access problem, after redeeming single DLC with a gift code
- Slightly optimised download process, Galaxy will no longer stop downloading for a while during unpacking small files
- Galaxy will not freeze after quitting during applying diff patches
- It is now possible to log out without internet
- [Windows] Fix for screenshots in Dragon Age: Origins and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
- [Windows] Mouse cursor should not duplicate when opening overlay and moving the mouse simultaneously

# 1.2.21 Beta (August 25, 2017)
## Changes and Improvements:
- Added desktop notification if there are unread notifications in the top menu

## Bugfixes:
- Top menu won't switch to mobile mode in Galaxy
- Fix for excessive memory usage in top menu

Sorry, we're working a fix for the Import Folder bug right now.

A game can be imported using Scan&Import if there exists a file called goggame-<something>.info in the game folder.

BKGaming: I used it like a week ago, imported 30 games and it worked fine. Just selected my games folder that had all my GOG games.
avatar
klappis: Can it import games installed through the GOG-installers? I haven't been lucky importing them at all.
Same for me. I tried the "Manual Import" approach, though, which one starts from the game's own page in the library. Whatever I point it to, it does come up with a notification "No Game Found". I tried it with Aquanox, Aquanox Revelation, The Guild, Arcanum, Advent Rising, all the Wing Commanders, Strike Commander, and some more.

The other strange thing is the backup game function. I just tried it for fun and it took 10 minutes (or so) to backup a 850MB game, while my network was fully saturated (as it would have downloaded it). Oh, and I did not have that game installed in my Galaxy library (installed it years ago manually with the installer). It resulted in an installer file for that game in my GOG Galaxy download folder. When I hit "Install" in Galaxy it started to download the whole game again.

Just start the installation within Galaxy when it starts the download pause it and close Galaxy. After that just copy the content of the installed game (which import doesn't find) into the folder Galaxy is downloading the game to. Now start Galaxy it should realize new files are in the folder and check them, after that it downloads only the files which need patching or are missing.
btw copying the already installed game files into the download folder shouldn't be a problem since Galaxy gives files another file extension if they are not fully downloaded.

Always worked for me when Galaxy came out and never had to download the whole game again. Maybe it stopped working now because of differential patching... haven't checked how Galaxy behaves now when doing stuff like that^^

Can someone please help me out, this is like the third time this has happened. Like the 1.2.17 public update, this one refuses to install properly on my computer. I get it stating GOG is updating, I approve of it and GOG Galaxy exits. It restarts and installs it...and it says something is wrong and I should download the installer (which is still 1.2.17 NOT 1.2.20) and now everytime I exit GOG Galaxy and (even with Administration allowed) it still refuses to fully install 1.2.20. What gives? What do I do? Why does this happen with each major public update?
The most recent update, after it finished installing and restarting, rendered Galaxy unusable (maximised window that contained nothing). Closing Galaxy didn’t work — at first — but after manually killing all of Galaxy’s processes and restarting the client everything is working A‐O.K.
Comodo contains scriptinterpreter.exe as trojan.
Possible false positive'?
"Top menu won't switch to mobile mode in Galaxy"
Does this mean it will no longer switch to the mobile version or does this mean that it's now possible to switch to the mobile version? I own a Windows tablet and the client menu is impossible to use with touchscreen so I insist on an option to control the client over touchscreen. The top menu is also the only thing that doesn't work with touchscreen at the moment.

I don't recall any bug that could cause this problem. Could you post a new issue at http://mantis.gog.com, attach your logs, and we'll investigate.

murkki: Comodo contains scriptinterpreter.exe as trojan.

I would hope so :) That executable is part of GOG Galaxy, something developed internally at GOG. It should be perfectly safe.

Hm. The bug was that it would switch to a version which would work in lower resolutions, not actual touch support. I'll file a bug report on that, but I'll be honest - tablet support is not high on our priority list...

still missing the option to have X close the client that was removed for some inexplicable reason :(
After the last update Galaxy crash at startup showing a message about the database.
I use Windows 7 64bit. I was using the standard version of the client.

Following the instruction on the support site the things now works well.
