It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

"our tech guys are really sorry and this never should have happened in the first place and we cant figure out why it did right now but we'll be making sure this doesnt happen from now on as of tomorrow because not everybody wants to use facebook and under GDPR this may be a major violation"?[/i]

O___o?

glad I stopped using galaxy when it was early on.

toxicTom: I hope this get fixed soon.

That said, I can't understand how people put up with browsing the forum using Galaxy, when using a browser with Barefoot Essentials and Adalia Fundamentals is just a hundred times more comfortable...
You are right, using the browser is more comfortable and I usually do that.
But I got curious when I read this thread, and I had to try it.
Now I'm rather annoyed and hope it's only another glitch that will be fixed - faster than all of the other annoyances.

or just a browser (no disrespect to the scripters / their scripts)
Same problem here, fix it as soon as possible, it´s annoying.

sc_neo: So this is happening to me also. So, does Galaxy contain any facebook code or api linkage? If so, and i am unable to escape facebooks tracking using galaxy, then i guess that was that for me and GOG. So is the galaxy client communicating with facebook in the background?
you should just leave gog then -_- since it's the same thing on gog website and not just gog galexy becuase gog site also uses the same facebook login...

Trent2501: Hi there,

as I was checking the forums today on the Galaxy launcher, weird things started happening that did not happen previously. Every time I go to any different layer in the forum, a page is trying to open in my default webbrowser to a facebook page, with gog.com showing as the origin in the adress (which script blockers in my browser then suppess, so I do not even see a webpage). I do not have facebook to begin with and never made the attempt to connect that with GOG in any capacity, which make this new feature... puzzling. Same thing also happens with my secondary computer

Not that it bothers me that much since I could just not visit the forums to begin with, but I do wonder where this is coming from all of a sudden and how I might stop it from happening.

This is concerning for those who truly hate facebook, and care about their privacy. I too would like to know how much of our data is being exposed. I’ve always tried to defend Galaxy, but I may be uninstalling it over this.

That's funny because it only occurs when I'm on galaxy not the website itself.
Really that's annoying, hope it will be fixed soon. -.-

At least it isn't going to porn or a virus. yikes. Still annoying as hell.
You're not the only one. It spooked me out. I uninstalled Gog Galaxy because of it. I want nothing to do with fecebook whatsoever. The popups don't happen if you use a browser.
Happening to me too, since today. :( Galaxy user here, version 1.2.54. Every time I click on a page number at the bottom of any given forum thread, my Firefox opens up a new tab with a Facebook "security warning" connection error message. Strange thing is, it has *never* done this before. It's not like Galaxy received an update of any kind lately. Been using version 1.2.54 for a while now, so why these sudden connection attempts? I'm not even on f_cking Facebook. Am I annoyed? Getting there... Will report this issue to the support team as well.

The galaxy client (or at least the pane that renders the forum inside the client) is just a web browser and the web page is generated dynamically by GOG's servers. So it can start to do strange new things without changing the client code.

This bug is probably fairly harmless; but if it has something to do with Facebook tracking I imagine people will not like that. People come to this site and pay more for their games than they cost on Steam for the freedom from digital invasion it gives.

I agree. Harmless and hopefully, not indicadive of any tracking behavior. But it's quite annoying: I thought it was just limited to when I click on a page number, but my Firefox has opened a new tab when I clicked on "Post my message" and when I clicked on "View Profile" and when I switch from Forum to Store page, and so on and so forth. Just 15 minutes using Galaxy and I've got 20 tabs opened in Firefox! LOL!

It has put me off Galaxy for tonight. Gonna take a break from the forums and watch Game Of Thrones s08e01 for the fourth time. ;)

My point exactly, i am quite forgiving torwards Galaxy ever since i started using it.
Ever since GoG started to push Galaxy installers as well, but as long as the
games work completely Standalone it is okay.

But this bug, specially since it is FB, which i ll never use for obvious reasons
along side other "social media" aka surveilance platforms.

Please Tech team, can you confirm no data / passwords were leaked, once you fix that
bug?
