LeonardoCornejo: Well. At least this time it was no me. But hey. I am certainly not the most bizarre in my sexual practices and preferences. In real life I am actually kind of boring at that. I am all for crazy things in fiction, but in real life there are lines I would not cross. Like the previously mentioned gerbils.

Maybe it's my Christian presence or something. I think it scares tinyE. Let's see if this works to drive him or the others away.
Hey! Guys! Care for a refreshing drink?
2011? that is 4-5 years ago!!!

Don't you ever got stomach problem drinking that?

noncompliantgame: Everyone welcome! Anything goes! Now if you violate the GOG User Agreement that's an entirely different bucket of tofu altogether.

Fear your comments may invite deletion? Perhaps a thorough going examination of the Gog User Agreement would be prudent prior to posting.
avatar
tinyE: What's funny is he thinks I am the sole reason for his post being deleted. Even if I did downrate everything he puts up here (and I'm not saying I do :P) it still takes a hell of a lot more to get a post actually removed. I keep telling him that but evidently his English isn't so good. Maybe I should try speaking imbecile to him. :D
I don't really know the story behind all of this. All things being equal (or not) I was under the impression that deletion is for the usual reasons. Extremely offensive and insulting material, libel, copyright violations, spam, posting links to porn etc. Obviously the both of you have a very different take on events?

That's the idea of feeding it to them.

The dude's a known scammer (not tinyE, the other guy). Just look at his tagline, look at his grammar, and watch our rep numbers.

avatar
zeogold: Emergency blessing? Pretty sure this forum's in need of an all-out exorcism due to the scammers alone.
avatar
AccurateArt: Since I'm new around here, which one of these individuals falls into this category?
If you're talking about my joking, then Emob's right, a good 75% of the GOG community/staff's known for fairly crude humor. If you're talking about seriousness, Tauto's a fairy well-known scammer, one of the few that were so annoying that not even the uprep bots could save him.

You know. I noticed something that worried me. The terms and conditions regarding the forum states that we are not allowed to post "sexist, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, or otherwise inflamatory" remarks. Well, that is by itself not a rela reason of worry. But there are persons who belive, citing Anita Sarkeesian, that "Everything is sexist, everything is racist, everything is homophobic, and you got to point it all out." And that means something terrible. If anyone with that mentality would become a moderator in GOG forums it would lead to censorship and this place would become a new NeoGAF. Fortunatelly it seems the current mods are quite relaxed and don't seem to make a big deal over anything at all.

Where it is written like that?

It seems the standard house rule to me.

Opinions are fine, so long as you're not name-calling/threatening/otherwise abusing somebody.

Aha, see what I meant? My rep just dropped by about 6 points, as did tinyE's. The dude and his bots just randomly downvote our posts every so often in an attempt to "punish" us somehow, or in hopes of putting us in the negative like they did pimpmonkey and try to convince people that these guys are untrustworthy (most folks usually don't fall for this unless they're new). If you see somebody's tagline say "-300 club!" or something similar, typically it means that they frequently call out scammers and have lost 300 or more rep points as a result.
Sachys and tinyE are among the best of the "watchdogs" of the forum from what I've seen, and I'm assuming pimpmonkey must be as well in order to lose that much rep. Me, I'm probably the calmest and stupidest of the bunch, a trollbaiter who simply can't resist engaging them in....eheheh...light conversation.

Zeogold, people have lost rep for a lot of good and bad reasons. Thing is, the bad reasons started to run down a lot of truly excellent GoG forum members, so its no longer any kind of reasonable barometer of - well, anything. I make sure to up-rep fun and valuable posters to try to offset that bot effect when I am around, but 1) I am not always around & 2) I can only vote once per post!

It will take quite a few people making a habit of liberally using ye olde greene button to make a regular difference

or else GoG web persons will need to change the system. Thing is, most any system can be abused, as several threads discussing alternatives hypothesized at length

In this day and age, opinions seem to be the worst things you can have, if they aren't canon.
Outright harrassment often gets punished less (=is more likely to be just ignored) than politely stated opinions.
I'd probably have about 1400 rep by now if this wasn't the case and if we'd get new mods, real discussions probably wouldn't be happening anymore at all thanks to the phasing outrage culture.

Try it! Go into threads and just say "I think that Islam and neo-feminism are problematic" (with or without further reasoning, doesn't make any difference) and boy, you're in for a treat.

Yup. And we know GOG isn't gonna change anything anytime soon since this isn't their priority. I was just informing OP about this since situation since he didn't seem to know.

My personal favorite is walking onto any open or semi-open internet place and saying "I think western animation is superior to anime". Works every time.

I know what you are talking about. I have seen it and that was exactly what I was talking about. I hope GOG mods stay the same way they are now in that sense. There are places where making such statements gets you perma banned.

Yes! Open some thread that has nothing to do with the subject and try to cause a flamewar, and then be surprised people think you're a troll. Bunch of censorship happy nazis!

See: kingbradley17
But I think he's talking more about a relevant-to-the-subject opinion, not flamebaiting. It's just that when you disagree with the majority, everybody assumes you're flamebaiting.
