Just happy that a mainstay of the GOG community will be back.

Rules will never please everyone so whatever works for you Doc.

PixelBoy: There would be an easy fix for that.
Instead of 1st and 15th days, the giveaway times could be some time between/during 1st and 3rd days and 15th and 17th days.

That way everyone would know when to expect them, but not the precise moment. And very few people would have the time or patience to keep looking for max. 72 hours non-stop, and if someone actually would, guess that person deserves to get the game then.
Another issue is that fixed giveaway times mean no reason for people to check the thread the rest of the time, so it won't really be a "community" thread, but strictly a giveaway thread that people remember to check 2 times a month and let die otherwise.
For what its worth, I too think that a strict, defined date tends to reward people who "gamify" the giveaway. If spreading across multiple days is not a viable option, I would suggest making the update at a random and convenient time in days 1-3 (and 15-17). This has the added bonus of demanding less of the manager's availability.

I have not been as active for the last many months due to RL medical issues which have kept me off the computer for long periods so I am not up to date on why the changes here. However, my sincere thanks to finkelroy, zeo and the previous hosts for their dedication and work to help the community - but I am also not transferring to Discord for a GA that is supposed to support and encourage helpful/friendly activity on this community's forum.

Doc0075: If someone else wants to start up a replacement Community Giveaway I'm fine with that. Otherwise I will start one in a few months time.
This sounds great! I hope to be able to be more active again late summer/autumn following my final medical procedures, and to return to donating and hosting a few GA's then. This GA and the stated rules are something I would look forward to resuming participation in. TY Doc. :)

Thanks also to many here in the community for the considered opinions and suggestions. It shows the community is not 'dead' yet, and that there are several still here willing to participate in supportive ways.

I also treasure Doc's extraordinarily creative seasonal GA's as true Community classics and hope they may continue! Mucho appreciation for all of the time and effort involved, Doc and participants. Thanks for all the laughs and entertainment!

Wishing you good health. I hope that those final medical procedures indeed mean that the problems are about to be solved.

The Discord giveaway will be a different thing though, finkleroy meaning to create a new community there.

Doc0075: It would still be first come first served. To nominate someone to receive a game you would have to wait until the 3rd day of the month and the 17th respective of when the batch of games were added.
Question here: does this mean that the list will have different sections like “new:...old:...” then? Or else tracking if a key can be nominated for can be less clear during 15th~17th, it seems.

I'd say that just having a blanket no nominations rule between 1-3 and 15-17 would sort things out, and after all the idea would be to give priority to those actually checking themselves, or so I'd assume, and that could also count for those waiting to see whether something interesting would pop on the 15th before maybe going for something remaining since the 1st.
The nomination thing was always confusing to me and slightly unfair as it's basically allows to ask someone for reserving game for yourself when you can't be present personally. IMHO nominating should count towards nominating person limit so you can't take game for yourself and nominate your buddy at the same time - either one or other.

And what if nominated person doesn't want this game? That just makes confusion because someone genuinely interested might let it go seeing such nomination being requested.

Hmm, that also makes sense. Didn’t think it that way.

As long as toxic users are not in charge of the giveaway threads, everything will be fine. Unlike the previous admin of the thread.
Good riddance.

Doc0075: I feel it is unfair for an early poster to miss out on a game they really want and believe that they have legitimately claimed because someone who posted just before them both claimed a game and nominated someone else for one at the same time, effectively reserving that title for someone to receive at a later date.
pleased with that Why even continuing that "nomination process" ?
If I want a game and want a chance to grab the good one, I should organize myself to check it in time.
Every salary merits Work.

But if you really wants to verify every month if any demand is "on the time of the rule", it's up to you. I fear it might be time consuming anyway for you.

For me, it always have been the mirror of the cientelism, the cancer of the equality.

Happy to hear the tradition is not going away. Thanks Doc.

Just saying that back in my days at least half of the games were handed out due to nominations. And this was actually quite enhancing the community feeling. Because people went out of their way to check wishlists of people they thought deserved a game and nominated them. It was not just everyone looking out for themselves to grab the best game.
It was an awesome tradition!
Of course this erodet slowly over the years with more and more people being against nominations. Which I personally find sad.

@Doc: Of course you are free to implement a new version however you want, and nominations make everything more complicated. Please don't take this as critic to your proposal of how to do the giveaway. I just wanted to voice my opinion on the apparently general trend against nominations.

I think the reason why people may be against nominations is that some users were abusing this rule in the past.
