What do people think of Dungeonbowl?

I used to love this back in my boardgame days.
I hate the fact that the PC version charged you seperately for each team.
But now there is a complete version available on Steam for £12.99.

I'm tempted, but it has no single player.
Are there any other players out there?

16e and it doesnt seem to contain those two map editor kits :/ EDIT: my bad, it DOES contain them.

Id like to give it a try some time, but from what ive heard - i am not certain if the price is worth it.. Then again, the gamestyle is very different from your regular BB so i dont know should they be compared at all.

do you know what ruleset that is using? is it downloadable somewhere?

So i suppose the game is still missing 2 collegues - Golden and Black?

btw the "real" Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay colleges are eight:

Bright (fire), Light, Gold, Jade (kinda healer/nature thing), Celestial (astro-stuff), Grey (illusions), Amethyst (death), Amber (nature/beast).

....i wonder how they come up for those dungeonbowl colleges - not that i mind, but i just happen to know the fluff bit too well ;)

The last "official" dungeonbowl rules I've seen were 3rd ed (the box set with the plastic dwarves & elves).
I believe the PC game uses the basic rules from the PC blood bowl, with add-ons to cover teleporters, chests, wandering mosters etc....

Yeah, like how you actually even make a team? I know you can mix races, but i dont know how many players there are, how much you have gold, what players you can actually choose (any from the colleges 3 races?) and so on..

All i know the maps are weird, ball is hidden in some random chest and thus the game is ^10 more random than BB...then again, BB isnt really all that random - you can know all the chances and even know where the ball is ;)

I bought Dungeon Bowl when it came out. It's a nice variation, but doesn't have the staying power of Blood Bowl imho. After the novelty wore off, I found that the random elements (ball position, teleporters) were less enjoyable for me than the tactics in regular Blood Bowl. Teams are small, there aren't many different teams, and the game ends with the first touchdown.

It's still a lot of fun, and for me it was worth the money, just don't expect something that has the same long-lasting appeal as regular Blood Bowl.

Each college has a team roster (generally a mix of 3 different races).
Where a normal blood bowl team (eg humans) might have:
0-1 ogre
0-4 blitzer
0-2 throwers
0-4 catchers
0-16 linemen
A Dungeonbowl team might have:
0-1 minotaur
0-8 dwarves
0-8 skaven
Or something like that.

The game is played in an underground maze.
There is no kick off.
There are a number of treasure chests hidden in the maze.
1 of these will have the ball inside.
The rest will be trapped & explode when you open them.
Being a maze, there may well be choke points where a couple of strong players can cut the pitch in half.
To get round this, there are also a number of teleporters….

I would imagine that the game comes with a number of pre-generated mazes & the tools to make your own.
How the game decides which maze is used for each match, I don’t know.

I think the Cyanide's webpages "Black college" is "Dark college" in steam. ...cant see the gold collegue listed in steam but the ranking list on cyanide's page shows teams playing with gold college.

I really dont understand how cyanide cant code games, nor webpages or even steam product info properly. C'mon!

EDIT: ok so it would seem Gold was added as free addon for everyone when Chaos Edition came out. Gold have chaos Dwarves.

Clarification of matchday deadline

The last matchday ended way earlier than usual and it may have caused some confusion - so ill clarify it here just in case.

Matchdays end always as mentioned on the first post: 3.) The matchday change is tuesday 23:59 GMT +2
..unless all the games are finished earlier, like just happened. In this case the deadline stays same. The day difference of the earlier matchday change and the next tuesday become "extra days".

So unless ive counted wrong somewhere - we are still on the right schedule - the next matchday change is the 9th of april, tuesday 23:59 GMT +2.

Over the last week i was kind of busy.
Unfortunately my PC broke and i wasnt able to fix it. Hopefully my laptop will be enough to keep things going with the league until my PC is repaired.

Did it just break by itself of some accident? Years ago i had laptop from Acer and it was being repaired like every three months. Luckily i had bought that extra insurance-thing for it, so in the end i got brandy and far better laptop from them in exchange. But man, the customer care in Finland sucked.

Well, my PC wasnt that new at all and i already had to replace some parts. This time the RAM broke, and i decided to rebuild the whole thing instead of replacing again. This way i´ll be able to play some of the newer interesting titles, which were released over the years, especially Skyrim and FarCry 3.

And yep it did break by itself. Everything has an expiration date :P

Overclocking or something? I dont think RAM is exactly the most easily breaking part in computer - no moving parts and so on. Ive broken mobo, GPU, CPU, various ports and what not - but i dont think ive yet managed RAM. Not that i am in hurry to :)

Though i seriously would like to have new computer - the current one is real frankenstein monster of a computer: overly sized aluminium case, water cooling and super sized radiator. ...but super old stuff inside :(

Shouldnt complain though - got it for free from a friend who won some lottery and updated to seriously better computer ;)
