Hi, I'm new to games, my son purchased gift code to the game terraria from gog, and although gog has my email as where they sent me the redeem code, there is no other record that I have the game. when I tried to log in it said I didn't exist, so I opened a new account, and though my email is the same my game still doesn't show up.

I sent for help at the support center but haven't any replies yet. my son told me to update my game, but I can't as there is no record of it, also, I would like a copy incase I have to reload my computer.

I tried using the redeem code again as so I could get into my original account, but it says it was already used, and it was... by me! also the game didn't come with any special code to prove that it was bought and paid for, nor did it come with a manual.

can someone help me retrieve my game?

thanks ahead of time for your help.

Wait, let's try this:

1) Where did your son bought the game? Gog or those key reseller websites?

2) You activated the game on your account, is this one that you're writting? Did you check Account, Library and see if it's there?

3) Try refreshing your account page -> www.gog.com/account/refresh

yes, the game was purchased at GOG, I still have the email from them that they sent me with the redeem code. My original account didn't show up, it said my email address wasn't correct, though that is where I got the original email, I than made a new account with the same email address, still nothing, I also tried gog galaxy. Thank you for the quick response.

ok, the redeem code is like a one time only code.

Once it has been used it is gone ;)

But don't be afraid.

1st:

try with the account where you tried to redeem the code to refresh your account with using this link:

https://secure.gog.com/account/refresh

that shall refresh your account and INCLUDE the redeemed codes.

Afterwards you shall be able too see in

https://www.gog.com/account

the game you have been given.

Once it is in your account you can download it to your computer, even with a local copy (best using https://www.gog.com/downloader)

https://www.gog.com/account

and going via click on the game -> more -> downloader links and downloading the game and the goodies and patches

voila, you git your game and a local copy, you just have to install it ;)
Sorry, i'm confused, do you have acess to your original account? The one where you activated the key that your son offered?

Because if you activated the game on that account and you created a new one, even with the same email (is that even possible?) then the game is stuck on your first account.

To make this clear, was this your first time with a gog account? Or did you already had one?

I do not have access to my original account, it says that my email address didn't exist. so I do not have access to my original account.

so I opened a new account, using the same email address, I figured it wouldn't be possible to have two accounts on one email, so that showed me that the original account is gone.

problem is, I even tried to get my password reset on my old account, but it said that my email didn't exist, so according to the GOG system I never had an account. I'm just glad that I still have the original email that GOG sent to me.

maybe that way someone can help me get the purchase information.

ty for your response.

This is very good information, but only if I had the original account that I redeemed my gift on, but It isn't in the GOG system.

Wait, i do believe there's some confusion here, did you had an account before your son sent you an email?

Because the fact of your son sending you an email (from gog) doesn't mean that it automatically creats an account for you when you redeem the key, you have to make the registration and i don't believe that gog would allow you to create a new account using an email that is already in use.

As for the purchase information your son has it on his email.

How could you try to redeem a gift code without an account..? The account page to redeem it doesn't even show if you're not logged in (and often it doesn't show even when you ARE logged in).

Exacally my point. my son purchased it as a gift, and gave GOG my email, than GOG sent me a email saying I had a gift from/for GOG it also included my sons player name and his email address and the redeem code and the game that was purchased.

the email was from GOG

I got on GOG.com, signed up with my email address, redeemed my game, played it, and still enjoying it, my son wants me to now experience multiplayer P.V.E, (not pvp, I'm too slow lol) but I need an update to match everyone else. Also I had expected the game to be on GOG in case my computer crashed I would still have it. long story short, GOG system did not recognise my email address. soooo I created a new account, hoping that if I could reuse that redeem code I would be right back where I started.. with it showing up in my account.

There is no game code that came with this purchase so I can't "reclaim" it. I was able to show that it is installed on gog galaxy, but it does not show up in the library, and galaxy will not connect with gog.com with out some other code that I never got. thats the whole story at this time.

Okay, let`s see:
You created an account with your email address. Then you redeemed the code and played the game. So far everything is okay. But I don`t understand the thing with "GOG doesn`t recognize the email-addrss". Do you want to say that you tried to log in by using your email addrss? This won`t work, you use your nickname and a password to log in.
Another thing is that GOG doesn`t allow to use the same email address for two different accounts, so it`s possible that you misstyped your address when you created your first account.
When did you create it? if it`s longer ago, then you should have get some emails from gog with infos about sales. If you didn`t get those emails, then it`s probably because you used an other or wrong typed address when you created your first account.
I don't think you can reuse game keys, the game is only available from the account you first activated it on. If i understand you correctly.

Most likely your original account was hacked and the thief changed the email address. That's why it stopped recognizing your email address and you could create another account with the same email. We see more and more accounts hacked lately.

Contact support. Be prepared for this to take a while.

Until you get a response do the usual, scan your computer, change passwords for other accounts where you used the same email/password, etc.

Edit: Here's a staff response on the account hijacking issue:

Two questions:
1) Do you own the main game on GOG?
2) Are you logged in to your account when you try to redeem the code?
