Just like Dead Rising 2 with its DLC a week ago Resident Evil 5 has also transitioned to Steamworks now and in addition the previously console exclusive Gold Edition content has been released on PC to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Gold Edition. The same caveats apply for folks that have the retail GFWL version of the game, the key for which they can use to redeem the Steam version, more details can be found in the following blog announcement by Capcom.

http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2015/03/26/resident-evil-5-gold-edition-available-now-on-steamworks

The game is currently on Sale at Steam with the vanilla version available for $6.80 at 66% off and Gold Edition for $20.99 at 30% off. The Gold Edition content can also be bought separately as DLC for $14.99.

Yay for RE5. ^^

Fun coop.
That is pretty pricey DLC for a six year old game. Does it add a lot of content?
RE5 was great fun in coop, but that Gold Edition DLC price. :/ Capcom sure know how to anger their fans.
Capcom has no shame. 15€ for DLCs is simply too much, considering you can buy the full, new game from Amazon for less than 10€, 5 used (yeah, Gold edition). And it was given for free on Pllus too. Basically by charging so much for this DLC they are covering costs for GFWL migration for DR2 and RE5. Owners of the game should receive this for free, like 2K did with Bioshock 2 and WB with Batman AC.

Depends on what you consider a lot, but what is there is straight up quality. Pretty sure most people consider the DLC levels, in particular "lost in Nightmares" better than the base bame.

I've never played "Desperate Escape", but Lost in Nightmares is incredibly old school RE. If you like action survival stuff its not for you. This is all looking for keys and solving puzzles and avoiding the occasional jump scare. Old timers like me consider it some of the best RE content since RE2. More modern RE fans (those that came on board with the huge change in RE4) may not be as impressed.

As I said before its too much to expect any goodwill from Capcom i.e to provide a free upgrade to Gold Edition for previous owners. We should thank our lucky stars I guess that they have finally released this long missing and requested content for PC gamers.

On a related note I have read that the transition to Steamworks for Dirt 3 is underway by the developers and although it is taking a extraordinarily long time Codemasters have promised that all previous owners will get a free upgrade to the Complete Edition whenever its released.

2666. :P
A step in the right direction but doesn't change much since it's still plagued with DRM. While they're at it Codemasters would do well to release a DRM-Free version here just like GRID.

Dude the DLC in this game is highly worth it. Because Lost in Nightmares is actually scary. And you can play it in the classic Fixed Camara style.

I love RE5, gets an awful lot of bad press because it isn't like the older games, but I like it a lot.

2 Extra Campaigns: Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape, New Playable Characters for a modifyed Mercenaries mode, PVP Multiplayer, 2 new costumes each for Chris and Sheva, new collectable in-game statues (think the trophies in Smash Bros)

Amazing that RE 4 is the same but it gets a pass.
