dyscode: Speaking of 'exciting'

since last Humbe Bundle's monthly was a pile of poop again,

this month already starts with Soma.

If Soma alone was on sale for $12, it would be worth it already.
Unfortunately I already have it on Steam.
I'm a subscriber and I'm debating on paying early just to get Soma right away. However, I know I'm definitely getting it, and I have plenty in my backlog to work on before next month, so.... Undecided. I wouldn't say all the games HB puts into its monthly subscription are poop, but there's definitely been a lot of unknowns I've been scared to even try.

Yes, I am also not into gambling at all. Even the GOG mysterious games I don't buy.
So I can only go by the info HB gives me upfront. A game can be discounted as much as it wants,
if I have zero interest in it or already have it - which was true for most HB monthlys -,
it's nothing to me at all.
So far I only got the Mad Max Bundle up to now and hit the jackpot (only games I like, no game I already have), compared to previous HB Monthly selections (of games I already had).

And after having played Soma I'd def. pay $12 for it (payed $15). Yes, it's mostly a walking simulator with only a few enemies to play hide and seek with and easy puzzles but the overall experience, gosh, that was something unique!

I hear what you're saying 100%. I think your Soma review in another thread (?) is what made me decide ultimately I will be getting it, just a matter of when. :)

Apologies for the minor derail!

Another birdie told me that you'll get it cheaper when you rent the game from Steam.

I have always tried to figure out how you people manage to rent games from Steam, would not mind doing it for some games I did not intend to play much, except playing through once.

It's the same thing redditors who don't like Valve do when they keep calling it Volvo :)

yes, I knew, but I always assumed it was only for the german storefront, but have since learned otherwise :)

Short shoutout about a really great support: I purchased the Painkiller Complete Edition in the UK store front (got the 5% off) assuming that it doesn't have an activation lock for germany. Well I assumed wrong. Steam wouldn't redeem the key, so I wrote to support fearing I wouldn't be able to refund after seeing the key.
Well half an hour later I they wrote me back very friendly that I can get the money transfered back or store credit in either uk or de store and that they'll put up a warning on the store page. wished for uk store and got the credit a few minutes later. On Sunday evening at eight o'clock. Pretty Impressive gamesplanet!

I also don't have a clue how they got to using that one but it really seems to have stuck :)

GOG should consult them to create a new moto that does not represent reality but sticks anyway

I don't know, Good Old Games still seems to be lasting despite having been changed years ago :p
8-Bit Armies, along with its soundtrack and Guardian Campaign DLC, are discounted by 25% for one week, probably to celebrate the upcoming release of 8-Bit Hordes:

Pheace: Damn, the word exciting must have changed a lot recently :p
Maybe he meant 'stimulating' or 'titillating'

As I understand it, the progression of Japanese artwork goes like this:

Shoujo/Shounen Anime (more-or-less kid safe; however plots may or may not make sense - even to adults watching)
Otome (young female and teen romances stories, usually VN games)
Manga (same as above, but likely has more violence and/or fan service)
[Fan Service: unintentional (?) glimpses of underwear. Even mainstream titles usually have it, e.g. Nausicaa or Gurren Lagann (a whole episode's worth, from what I read)]
H or ecchi or Hentai (gratuitous fan service on up to straight up porn. IIRC Hentai means pervert or perverted)
Eroge (in games - story is forgone in pursuit of the ... well, you get the idea)

So, which are these games?
