schmea: UFO Extraterrestrials Gold is an average game made into a fantastic game by modders. In particular Greyfiend's Unimod makes it a game every strategy fan should have in their collection, especially if you're an XCOM fan.
Psyringe: The file in "step 1" is flagged as a virus by my security program. Wouldn't be the first time that a fan patch triggers a false positive, but since I don't know these guys - how reliable are they?
Well that sucks. I've been downloading and playing with different versions of his mod for years now, so it's a shame to see something like this happen. As for how reliable they are? I probably wouldn't risk it. Even if the modder is trustworthy, and I do believe he is, his website or his host could have been hacked at some point. I'll email Greyfiend and let him know, in the hopes he has no idea and can clean it up. I'll also remove the link until further notice. Thank you for letting me know.
I'm really sorry for recommending something that turned out to potentially have a virus. It's an incredible shame, since I've had so much fun with his mod over the years!
