enigmaxg2: What if the console dies? as far as I know, all digital purchases are tied to the account and the account is tied to the hardware.
Yes, at least I know they were on the Wii. Nintendo is annoying and rigid in this regard. Both Sony and Microsoft allows transfer of licenses if a console dies.

For me Nintendo is a company of the past. They keep on making games with same old franchises and they use archaic business models. No wonder it hasn't been going well for them. My kids don't care about Nintendo - they want their tablets and mobile phones for handheld games - that is also much more cost effective. Then all their friends can afford the same games and the social experience is much better.

I tried the Wii U long before it was released and concluded that it was garbage back then. And I still think it is. The controller feels like a toy and the hardware is less powerful than the X360/PS3 but was released 5 years after.

I know it has been prophesied before, and people have been wrong, but this time I really think it is true. The downfall of Nintendo is near. It is only a matter of maybe a decade (they have big coffers) before we see Nintendo do like Sega and stop making hardware and make Mario games etc. on other platforms.

StudiosWest: If you're talking about the Bleem! incident, that's because the creators of Bleem! completely bypassed Sony's hardware and software and sold their own version. Hence, they got sued out of existence.
Afaik Bleem! won the court process but the whole affair did cost them more time and money than such a small company could handle so the sueing was successful although the suer lost. That's big vs. small company for you.

HiPhish: What I don't like about old console games is that most of them are just naked cartridges, most kids just threw the boxes and manuals away. And on top of that even when GameStop would get a game in a box (when they were still selling GBA games) they would always throw the box away. Maybe they will keep the boxes for old games, considering that those fetch much higher prices, but I doubt it.
My mother threw away the big mint condition box of Terranigma a few years ago. I was furious because I knew that the complete set of an RPG SNES-box with manual in this condition was worth a fortune (about 250€) and lost most of its value if you only had the cartridge and the book left. I managed to safe the big Lufia box (not the inlay though) and most of the others but it's still such a shame...

I am sort of indifferent on Gamestop buying and selling retro titles, just because, for one, a lot of the stores are closed here in Akron, Ohio, and two, I heard horror stories about them, but I never have had any bad service from them, but their prices are ridiculous on used/new games, the used is only a few dollars cheaper.

Gosh I remember playing my NES, which I saw on here, PS2's are 15 years old.... well NES's are... 30 years old, if you count when NES came out at year 1985.... so yeah, I remember my NES< actually I still have it, well I don't, my dad does, but it still works.... he says, still blowing out the dust, blue screen resets, lol.

Oh the good old days, retro was and is the best still, I play tons of pixel retro 8 bit games.

And still the Wii U has by far the best selection of exclusives currently and also has a few potential system sellers coming up, most notably The Legend of Zelda. And actually the Wii U is just 800k units behind the Xbox One. It won't take the lead but it sure as hell can still beat the Xbone.

Legend of Zelda. I played three of those Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. I completed the first two but stopped the midway through the third since I felt I was playing the same game with same puzzles now for the third time. Oh, the Water Temple again, how original.

As I said I think they keep on making the same game again and again. It can't keep on going like that. Old farts like us like it but I don't see any kids anymore playing Nintendo. They are have moved phones or tablets.

And worldwide the lead of Xbone is 2.6 million. (http://www.vgchartz.com/).

I've actually spent a considerable amount of time researching retro consoles (SNES/Genesis and earlier) in the past few weeks and checking out a bunch of used game shops in my area, and all I got out of it is that while I like the idea of having some retro goodness at home I don't think I can ever be bothered with all that fucking clutter.

Hell, that's why I like the digital gaming age so much. All (well, most) games on one convenient piece of hardware. At this point I'm probably just going the emulator route and some not so legal ROMs. So sue me! I can't be arsed to give publishers money to have all games locked down to one specific console; I'm looking at you ass-backwards Nintendo. That and the fact if I started collecting physical games they wouldn't see any money either. So... fuck them. =P

Indeed, the stats I just saw had up-to-date Wii U numbers but outdated ones for Xbone.
