How about something like Harmony (Freeware) then? Wouldn't call the graphics gorgeous, but if you like Blake Stone ...
Or Maldita Castilla (Freeware)? Castle in the Darkness (Steam)? Courier of the Crypts (Steam)? Too cartoony?
Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP (Humble)? Or Westerado (Steam)? That's neither sci-fi nor fantasy though.

nightcraw1er.488: Blake stone? That's not retro, that was released decades ago, back in the apogee days.

Rodor: Well, isn't "decades ago" retro already? Or not retro enough yet?
I think what nightcraw1er.488 meant was that "retro" is usually used to describe games that aim to recreate the look of past times. Old games are just old games, not retro. ;)

So basically, what you are looking for is old games - not new games with gorgeous retro pixel art... So basically all pretty sc-fi / adventure games non-3d released before 2000?

I recomend looking into Amiga games then, some of the best pixel art was done back then. Like Turrican II (http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/details.php?id=1081), Agony (http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/details.php?id=40), Flashback (http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/details.php?id=414), Dune (http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/details.php?id=354), It came from the desert (http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/details.php?id=586)

And many more.

Yep, "retro" is a game created lated than the period it is trying to emulate. Hence BStone is original nor retro.
Terraria. You just cant stop...
If new counts for you, check out Slain.

Well, maybe it's my fault, sorry. But I'll swallow both old and retro ones :)

Just go here: http://pixelartus.com/ - and dig through all the posts and you'll come across some really pretty games that have either been released or are in development.

Meh... Sorry but all the endless story of Endless franchise turns me off.

Ah, pixel art. That unique style that can either look absolutely sublime or, if badly done, absolutely shite.

Jamestown is a beautifully drawn bullet-hell shooter.

Wizorb is a fun breakout clone.

Frogatto & Friends is a decent platformer.
the new to gog release of Kingdom has some nice landscape pixel art, like the reflections on the rivers etc.

For some reason that always makes me think of Alex the Allegator.
Probably the reptile amphibian thing :P

Rodor: Looking for something like Odallus, Blake Stone, Silmarils games (Metal Mutant, Targhan, Starblade, Storm Master), Hexen, Heretic and so on, with outstanding retro pixel visuals, fantasy or sci-fi themed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
I know its not out yet but you should check out Tower 57. The art is awesome, very BitBrothers-esque. Also on that note check out The Chaos Engine.
