The German version was waaaaay more censored than missing children. Here's a list of changes that were made for the German version (quoted/translated from the German language ogdb website):
"- Intro was cut (captive soldier is shot in the head, the two perpetrators wave at the camera)
- children have been removed
- you can no longer see skeletons, no human being torched, no bullet holes, you can no longer cut people in half with the minigun, you can no longer shoot off a part of the body of people, you can no longer use grenades or the rocket launcher to blow people or animals to bits, you can no longer melt people with the solar scorcher or the laser
- all violent animations (except for the pools of blood) have been removed"

If it has children, it's based on the US version.

As you can see, the latest update was on May, 2nd - the same day the Steam build got updated.

The Steam version supports achievements, stats, and cloud saves. Endless mode uses Steam leaderboards for rankings.

Control. The Steam version is fine and dandy, but this one is completely broken and 505 and Remedy don't seem to care at all and it's been this way for years.

When I warned about this recently I was accused of making an unnecessary drama - but yes, I stand by my point and agree. THIS HAS to go on the list. Especially since I personally tested that the GOG version will run fine after exchanging some of those files with the Epic ones (Epic is fine as well) ... so it would be easy for 505/Remedy to fix it as well if they only wanted to do so.

A minority of poor children - mostly with paraents who don't have enough time for the children because of .... reasons ... would suffer psychological trauma for a few days or even more after having played such imhuman games and since Germany cares for those and has the responsibility to care for those since their parents don't the majority of children and grown ups have to suffer. What's not to understand about it? ;)

How is the average person who wants to support DRM-free releases supposed to even keep up with this? I had no idea this was broken as I only played on Xbox One X before I sold it.

I was literally this close to buying more things from here but the risk something is missing or broken is too high because I don't have the time to debug and compare versions. It's just better to make your own DRM-free Steam versions of games you buy.
