Alexim: Thank you!

Mjauv: You can add Exekiller :)
You're right, I had forgotten that they had already released some statement about GOG, thank you!

MartiusR: [...]see clearly how utterly meaningless was my patience and having hope for positive outcome. And I could mention even more of such titles. And I'm writing about titles from minor (or "medium sized") developers, not some AAA games from big companies.

Apologies for being bitter, but with every year I have more and more councious, how meaningless are all attempts to buy interesting (for me) titles in DRM_free format and preventing myself from buying them on Steam. I still don't buy most of them at all (because usually they stay on Steam/Epic forever), but it doesn't change anything.

Plus - this may be controversial for many, but I actually don't see anything wrong, if people will eventually buy those interesting them AAA titles on Steam.

rjbuffchix: Apologies if this sounds harsh...You are aware of how it has become increasingly difficult over the years to purchase games in DRM-free format, yet you go on to say that you don't see anything wrong if people buy games on Scheme? Might there be a disconnect here lol. I know you distinguish between AAA and smaller sized devs, but the point remains that reinforcing Scheme's hegemony (by purchasing games there of any size/scale) is compounding the problem. One could argue that we have long been past the point of no return anyway though.

MartiusR: I know that I will NEVER see japanese titles from Sega here (yeah, recent big contract, but appareantly this only means releasing here few titles published (so not produced) by Sega. For what's it worth, at least I have some retail copies of older PC games from Sega, without (or with some minimal) DRM.
avatar
rjbuffchix: You are likely correct, but I don't think we "know" that. I view the state of things realistically so that's why I agree you are likely correct, but also why I don't think the possibility can be ruled out entirely. We have received several games on here (not from SEGA) previously thought impossible. However, it does seem that the typical nature of Japanese gaming companies does present its own unique barriers to getting games here DRM-free. Perhaps it would require external factors out of GOG's control...hypothetically, if Sega changed management, or were doing worse financially to the point they considered previously non-negotiable options like bringing games here DRM-free. I know I consider the Sega published titles that are here must-have* for the reason that we may get more in the future.

*with the exception of Two Point Hospital as per the singleplayer games with DRM forum topic "part of the single-player content is gated through online connectivity. I.e. one has to register online and be online to unlock. Plus: core gamplay mechanics (staff handling, diagnostics) are bugged in offline mode."

But I don't want to get too far away from the main discussion here.
No, I still don't see it as something wrong, since games are meant to be played, and if someone is interested in playing something, that will never be released on GOG (so majority of AAA titles and majority of "medium-size" developers), what other choice the player has? None.

It may be, that after years they will lose access to those games, some service will fall (not very likely for Steam, but still), but I would risk the thesis, that people are not THAT attached to games, that they're willing to play, finish (probably in SP mode), and never come back to them. Not to mention that size of library is gigantic. Just basing on numbers, it's far more probable, that random X player will find interesting game on Steam rather than on GOG.

I don't like it, but also I realized at some point, how utterly meaningless client I am (as well as many others like me) with preference to play without DRMs and with having soft spot on older titles. Seriously, I see it every time when me and/or other players are asking some indie developer about releasing their game on GOG, there is no enthusiasm and usually VERY non-promising responses. And a bit later there is short note thrown somewhere, that they decided to not release it here, as it's troublesome to make updates also here. Or something like that. It happens almost every time.

So asked on Two Point Studios discord regarding Gog release of "Two Point Campus". As attachment is the answer I got. Not a confirmation, but sounds positive. Hope that qualifies for this thread.

Cheers

Before joining with SEGA, the devs/Social media team were quite positive about GOG and a GOG release.
Since this thread is apparently also about devs wanting their kickstarted games on GOG, Lori and Corey Cole are trying to get Hero-U spinoff, Summer Daze: Tilly's Tale released here - again:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/transolargames/summer-daze-at-hero-u/posts/3730306

They've already been "too niche"d once, but who knows - maybe GOG curators will see things differently this time.
Another two Meridian4-published titles confirmed via their respective pages on the Meridian4 website:

Kill Fish

Boom Blaster
"Boom Blaster is a hand-drawn, side-scrolling shoot'em up with intense boss fights! Blast your way through each level with a range of weapons and unique hero abilities in this exciting and challenging action game."

Hello. The game "Kona II: Brume" could be released on GOG. The studio has to ask their publisher first. But they really want to release their game.

GOG really should allow the game here. They need family friendly visual novel style games, not just X-rated ones...
Good news. I asked the studio if they were thinking of releasing their games on GOG. They answered me that yes.
Game: Roots of Yggdrasil

See the following image for confirmation:

The studio is thinking of releasing their game on GOG once the game is officially released. (They haven't submitted the game to GOG yet).
Game: The Foretold: Westmark Legacy

Actually, there is a wishlist entry for the game already, with its previous name - they changed the name during development:

It seems that Elements - An Open-world Co-op RPG, is also pretty much confirmed on GOG, their FAQ is pretty clear:

Actually has been confirmed for quite a while already, alongside other upcoming Apogee-published titles:
