Daliz: [...] but the new Thief didn't get a very good reception.
The new Thief is a pretty decent game. Squeenix just made the mistake to call it "Thief", because there's not much left of the old Thief series. But when you manage to get this Thief thing out of your head, this game is really enjoyable.
The customization is where it really shines. You can set a very, very, VERY personal difficulty for yourself. I'm not just talking about enemy health or AI here. You can turn off every single part of the HUD or ingame hints. I killed the mini map, navigation markers, health bar, interaction notifiers (Press "E" to...), object highlights (the crap thing that shows you which items you can pick up) and similar stuff that breaks immersion. This alone made a huge difference! And if you're still up for more, you can add some modifiers (additional challenges), like "No damage" (you don't have health - one hit and you're done) or even "No alarm" (mission failed if a guard gets alarmed). I highly recommend one of those two, additionally to "No focus" (Focus = slow motion button) and the modifier that leaves you with the special arrows only (water, rope, etc.).
@more recent Squeenix games
I have most of them already (Tomb Raider, Thief, Hitman Absolution, Deus Ex: HR), but I think I'd buy them again on GOG, just to show Squeenix that they don't have to be afraid of GOG. I like most of their games, so I'd like to see them here.
