Thanks for the info! It is good to know that the release on GOG will be simultaneously with Steam

IAmSinistar: Speaking of which, where is the promised countdown clock?
avatar
tfishell: I assume Destro(?) meant the countdown clock wouldn't be 30 days, but they would use one. I assume it'd be like System Shock 2 which was ... what, 12-24 hours before release? I don't remember exactly.
Yeah I rather have a 7 day countdown rather than 1 day so I know when it's coming earlier.
avatar
IAmSinistar: Ah, I had assumed that the countdown would occur some time within 30 days of their announcement, and that it would cover a longer time period. I guess they can drop one on the site on the 29th or 30th if the release is on the last day of the month then.
I had also assumed it'd be a longer countdown period to build up the excitement and anticipation. But maybe they're not going for this since they were not certain about the exact date (or just made it appear so to tease us?), as the disappointment would be enormous if case something went wrong and had to be postponed.

Actually most people misunderstood but Iwi said that he is quite confident that they will sign the publisher in less the 30 days but it might take still longer and they will put up the countdown when everything is finalised.

Wow, that's not at all what I got from their comments. Oh well, guess we can stop waiting for the countdown then.

He's the one that misunderstood. To quote the video "Within 30 days we will have a major release". Also the following was said, "Within 30 days I think you will be very very happy".

Thanks, nice to know I wasn't totally off base then. Given the current delays with releasing games and movies, I think they're probably regretting this promise right about now.

There was an earlier post mentioning a gog release, but now DoubleBear has set on a date:
"...launch date of December 4. It will be available on both Steam and GOG, and go for $30..."
Tke KS update doenst mention gog directly, but the pcgamer article does, so hopefully a simultaneous release. I'm still waiting for confirmation of gog keys for backers, but that is another matter.

Edit - faq on their website confirms a gog release on december 4:

http://www.deadstate.doublebearproductions.com/faq/

"When is it scheduled to be released?

December 4, 2014 on Steam and GOG.com."

According to FreakZone, the Director's Cut of Manos: The Hands of Fate will also be coming to GOG.

THAT made it through GOG's unforgiving selection process?

The film would have been great though.

Edit: Typo.

Well, the film is in the public domain, so I'm not sure if GOG is in a hurry to bring it here. Maybe as an extra to the game?

I read the link after I typed that. But I still hope for the movie. I want something hilariously bad. =(
