vicklemos: Interplay sez ''knock knock'' ;D
avatar
Grargar: Fixed.
Oh the Interplay brothers... good for us they're releasing some gems on GOG, awesome ;P

Let's speak freely in here, shall we? We need more racing games/wacky racing games/arcade racing games.
I'm not complaining, I swear!
Finished my World Rally Fever copy grabbed in here a while ago and it's a pretty fun game with cool tracks and all (it's not Power Drift but hey, it's cool) and I gotta give 1nsane another try, POD and all but I'd be pleased to see some racing gems in here.

Amen to that... More sport games generally would be good but I guess that licensing issues do not help.

Does that mean we'll get the old Descent games back soon?

Why would it? Descent Studios has nothing to do with the old games, AFAIK.

I thought it were they who had acquired the Descent rights from Interplay.

Nope. Interplay owned the trademark to the Descent name and IIRC the copyright to the game music, which they contributed. The developer Parallax Software still owns (and always owned) the copyright to the game code, graphics, levels, ... , well, to all the rest that makes up the game.

For the games to be published again Interplay would have to get an ok from Parallax which is very unlikely since Parallax claims they haven't received royalties for their games from Interplay for many years. See here for a statement from Parallax.

The only thing that Descent Studios did was buy the right to use the Descent name for their game.
