llamas: Thanks for reminding me. I was thinking of saying The Witness but I thought that maybe it was more of a puzzle game than an adventure game. It's DRM-Free on Humble so I don't know what the hold up is. I like supporting Gog whenever possible so I will wait for this one and is one big game that should absolutely be here.

MarkoH01: Wasn't it said in the thread that the devs did not like GOGs conditions?
Yeah, I read in another thread about the whole thing. Oh well, it's nice to know that a DRM-Free copy exists and the good thing about backlogs is that I can wait for a really steep sale before I pick it up since it won't make it here.
New company in the catalog: Spearhead Games, likely for Stories - The Path of Destinies. Releases April 12th.
Stories is an action-RPG set in a vibrant fairytale universe filled with floating islands, airships and colorful magic.

In Stories, player embodies Reynardo, a sky corsair confronting an imminent doom threatening his realm. The prodigious imperial armada have reached the borders and are on the verge ravaging everything on their path.

Last survivor of the vanguard, forced into the impossible mission of saving his realm, Reynardo knows that every single decision is crucial and that the future of everything he knows depend on it.

More than a classical action-RPG, Stories unfolds and explore an unprecedented storytelling system that we call "Alternate Reality Probing" (ARP). Inspired by popular movies such as Groundhog day, Run Lola Run or The Edge of tomorrow, Alternate Reality Probing has undertaken the challenge of turning this concept into narrative system and to develop Stories on this foundation.

What ARP allows us to do, is to dynamically build a custom storyline entirely defined by player's choices and actions. In a sense, Stories is a narrative puzzle in which player progressively learn more and more about the underlying layers and true motivations of each protagonist each time he plays. Eventually, he becomes able to predict everyone's action and use this forbidden knowledge to his advantage and achieve uncanny outcomes... Only by reading beyond the appearances the solution to this infernal puzzle can emerge!

At the moment, The Witness will not be released on gOg , as Blow and gOg could not reach a mutual agreement. (Blow did not accept gOg's terms).
Im quite curious what he didnt like about the conditions? i assume pretty much standard agreements are done with all devs?.

He probably wanted to charge too much, which is why braid isn't here iirc.
New company in the catalog: Wolcen Studio for Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem (likely on the "In Development" track)

It was more about rights, control and ownership, if I remember correctly.
edit - from the comments made at the time, Braid is not here because gOg was not that interested at the time, only in The Witness.

Yep, it's here now.

JMich: You are aware that people call Evil Islands as Rage of Mages 3, right? So the dolls in the images are for Konung, Sea Dogs and Evil Islands.
Rage of Mages 1 and 2 may or may not be coming. But the image has nothing to do with them anymore than the left most doll indicates Konung 3.
Either way, I'd be pretty happy to get RoM 1 and 2 here. I don't have physical copies anymore. :(

The game that isn't here because the developer wanted to charge more than what GOG wanted was Thomas Was Alone. Mike Bithell was quite vocal about picking the right choice and going without GOG, as the game did pretty good. That was when GOG's prices where more rigid.

Volume wasn't released here, either.

As for the Witness. Jonathan Blow was so quick to dismiss GOG after their offer that I always assumed that it was actually more about the failed Braid deal than anything else.

I have to say that I am not really sure if I do want this dev on GOG at all. He seems to be quite arrogant with his games. It's not like he's god's gift to the gaming world but maybe he's had a bit too much of success.

MarkoH01: ...
I thought the latest on the subject (back in Feb. or something) was that Blow was reconsidering and trying to work something out with GOG. I assume the deal still didn't happen, but I'll try looking for that tweet.

Here's what he said on Jan. 25:

https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Blow/status/691740304936816640

"Any chance of getting it onto GOG at some point?"
"Possibly .. we need to work out the legal details and I haven't had time due to just finishing the game."

I assume nothing came of that, but I think this is the latest public statement on the matter.

There was an article on his 'poor sales' for The Witness where he blamed going DRM free for the huge amount of piracy on the game. I would imagine that people pirated it for the ridiculous price, if anything.

In any case, I agree with your quote.

LOL! Everybody who still thinks that DRM does prevent pirating imo is delusional. It remembers me of an article I once read where one of the top people from GOG (cannot remember who) has told in an interview that a dev once asked him: "But what if because of DRM-free my game gets pirated" and he said "It probably already is". Truer words were seldom said. Imo the only "use" for DRM is to annoy the buyer because he cannot play his bought game like he was supposed to do.

I think Denuvo is actually changing that for better or worse, since it apparently works well to hold DRM in place.
