Hey GOG. Let's chat.

You redid the site long ago. But the library page is still broken. We've had some promises that fixes were coming. Can you please fix it? Pretty please?

It irritates me to no end when I have to switch to the (to me) lame shelf view to be able to filter to see updates or use the search feature, just to switch back to list view so I can actually see my games (and most importantly, their details when I select one) in a meaningful way.

And let's leave the forums/forum search out of this for now... But there are threads on that and plenty of other broken things that are adding up (including my post from a week ago asking about games and extras that are missing names).

Most recent mention of the Library Game Shelf update that I've seen is here:

Thanks, I missed that post. Looong time.
+1 for this.

Honestajebus I would not have a clue if a game was missing or not from my Library, So, I do find it disconcerting when I read about others missing games and I do wonder if I am missing any myself, but I would never be able to figure out if I was, because I don't think GOG has an "account" page that lists all your purchases separately from the shelf.

I think I have read a post recently where GOG asked someone to "prove" they bought a particular game,I would never ba able to prove what games I have bought here tbh.

On saying that, they are doing some site work in preparation for Galaxy, so that could be the reason.

Sorry, repairs take a back seat to improvements.

I left out the scare quotes, see if you can guess which word they belong to.
For sure. Gog are professional dudes and dudettes who care and listen.
Otherwise I, mr. pain-in-the-ass-sometimes wouldn't be here chattin', buyin', backloggin'... :P

They send out email receipts for all purchases and freebies/gifts redeemed on the site so if you keep those, and it is a good idea to do so, then you'll have proof of purchase in your email folders. I've got all of mine as a reminder of when I bought something and how much it cost for future reference, but it's potentially handy for other purposes too and disk space is cheap so I never delete any email ever pretty much.

That's all good and well, but say I bought a game back in 2011 and wanted to find it's receipt now, chances are I wouldn't have the email, I wouldn't even know the date of purchase anyway to refine the search, I would have to root through 200+ gog mails, Other sites I use have this information at the click of a button, Humble will even tell me what steam codes I haven't redeemed yet.

I'm not all that pushed, most of my gog games are dupes of my physical copies and as I said, I wouldn't even know if any were missing anyway.

EDIT:

This is quite heartening, Account History etc. will soon ba available.

In the best Blizzard tradition... "Soon(TM)." I wouldn't advise holding your breath.

If you don't have the emails still then sure, that wouldn't be an option for you. If you do though, every email program whether it is a desktop mail client or a web based email solution like Gmail has mail search features that make it trivial to search through tens of thousands of emails in relatively short time without having to manually rifle through hundreds or thousands of emails so it's worth spending a few minutes to examine the search features available if it's something that one can save a lot of time and effort when looking for something. I couldn't live without the search features in my mail client.

Having a nice order history in our accounts theoretically makes that unnecessary though so that'll be nice.

It was Barry_Woodward, the guy who owns just about every damned GOG game there is. GOG blew away his entire library, and then asked him to prove he owned $2 worth of DLC. I assume it was someone's first day.

...improvements my ass
instead of improving whats actually important ie the dissapearing game bug or other glitches and improving the boards they spend time and effort on this kind of rubbish

They send you an email for every transaction you do. Whenever that has not transpired (2-3 times) because the site was buggy, I bitched to support about it, because I want my email.

Assuming you keep those emails and are patient, you could re-create the list of games in your library from it.

Also, I'd wager that they must keep a record of those transactions for a while (I would if I was them) so if you can give them a transaction number, odds would be good that they could trace it.

EDIT: Ah, didn't notice skeletonbow's reply. I'd like to add that most mail services allow you to filter incoming emails into folders. I make heavy use of this feature and all the emails I receive from GOG go into my GOG folder.

That's good for all games that you have purchased. Far from good for any games that you have been gifted, because you get no mail for these ones (only the original buyer does).
