Had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine how it's odd that so few protagonists in a narrative games have a family. Mostly it's there to act as a catalyst for a revenge story or as a prize for some rescue operation. There's a lot of potential when it comes to families and how they'd be an asset for storytelling. Then a question was asked that how many games you can name where the playable character has a child? I was stunned that I could name only a few.

So, from the top of your head, what games (with a "fixed" narrative, a plot) can you name where the protagonist(s) either had, has or will have a child?

I understand that this thread might be of spoiler-y nature, so my apologies for that.

Games I named

Max Payne
The Last of Us
Max Payne
Heavy Rain
God of War
Lucius

Bioshock

Well the devil does appear in his mind, and takes control of Lucius to do his evil deeds.

Lucius acts as a vessel for the main protagonist, the devil, to do evil things.

That's what I think.

Baldur's Gate 2 has a character (Aerie) you can romance, and apparently impregnate...I think once the baby's delivered it becomes an inventory item :-) (at least that's what I read, never played the romance that far, because Aerie is super-annoying).
Can't really think of anything else right now...people with kids probably just don't have time anymore for the kind of adventures featured in videogaming...
