And they breathe new life into a title that maybe you love but have played a jillion times and need something fresh.

I restarted Mount & Blade: Warband a while back, and some folks had mentioned the Propehcy of Pendor mod. Thought I'd give it a whirl since it comes highly recommended. Well worth the download. M&B:W is already a really fun game and this mod greatly expands upon that fun, and so far I haven't encountered a single glitch. There are some ease-of-use things in the mod that alone would make it worth adding to the game, and it also adds a new world map, new factions, enormous amount of new armor, weapons, and steeds, and the combat feels significantly tougher without changing the basic mechanics of fighting.

Pop definately and briainwalda.

Big world for baldurs gate.

There are also a fair few doom mods out recently.

Also note that moddb just had last years highlights, so any on that list.
I thought Jagged Alliance 2 was just about the perfect game, that is, until I starting checking out some of the mods. The 1.13 mod / conversion or whatever you call it. It made an already awesome game even better, with tons of new weapons and features. And then after pouring many dozens of hours into it I checked out the Arulco Revisted mod, which totally updates the game world with a complete redesign of each of the ingame locations, even adding towns where before there was empty wilderness.

I've heard very good things about the M&B mods, but I haven't checked out a big one yet. Only small ones which changes the graphics a bit. At this point I figure I' just going to sit back and wait for Bannerlord.
Not doing mods right now but underground bunker in new vegas was a great mod to look at my personal arsenal of pain.

ok i play skyrim legendary edition as lvl 80 orc with light armor, war hammer and bow. i use 4 mods - first 2 are 100 x carry weight and "merchants have infinite gold". these save me lots of time ok? and last 2 mods is for fighting: no autoaim and a mod which doesn't really have a name of its own - it's called "blocking interrupts attacks" which makes blocking real good otherwise i'd have to wait for my last attack to finish until i could block. and since war hammer is slowest weapon, normally you could just forget about blocking and try to kite melee enemies. but now i can block whenever i want as long as i have weapon drawn. skyrim is real bad without these mods i think. if anybody wants to find them, they're all on nexus mods website somewhere
The only mod I think I have now is one for a game called Eversion, and it's more a 'superuser utility' than a full mod. Basically the game consists of 'eversions' but the game won't let you move to eversions the levels do not grant you access to, for instance you can't get to Eversion 5 in a level that only goes up to Eversion 3. That mod makes me go up and down willy nilly whenever I want.

It's also one that I cooked up myself and could be found on moddb. That's the only mod I have installed really. Otherwise I like my games vanilla.

I never play mods.

I have never once had a good experience with a mod.

Mods are a bit like sex. At first you will be naff at it. But keep trying, learn some techinques, and eventually its worth it.
Then along comes a little bastard, takes all your money for it, and leaves you with a product not working (that's a child/steam mod workshop analogy).

Get your mods off Nexus or Moddb, follow the given instructions carefully, and most will not only work, but substantially improve the experience. Mount and Blade for instance is barely playable without mods - it was basically an engine. Same with Elder scrolls game - actual story lasts 5 mins, mods add everything into these.
Take big world for Baldurs Gate - this combines both games/expansions, adds in the content which was removed, fixes a load of bugs, then adds a hundred weight of extra npcs, quests etc. I have had a few which didn't work, but not many, and the newer mods tend to be quite professional with installers and such like - take the Dark Mod which was a Doom 3 TC, now its its own installer, no need for Doom 3 at all, just plug your maps/missions in and away you go.
Nehrim and Enderal, the total conversion mods for Oblivion and Skyrim. Their stories are okayish, but the exploration is much more fun than in the official campaigns due to carefully crafted landscapes and dungeons and love for detail.
Divide et Impera for Rome 2 is great, just seems like they're the developers and CA, the modders. Ofc I play it with the Rome 1 music mod.

Age of Chivalry : Hegemony is a great TC mod for the original Age of Empires 2 : The Conquerors, and it has awesome music to boot.
I love mods :)

For Morrowind, Tamriel Rebuilt is my most anticipated mod that's already partially released. It is supposed to complete Morrowind province with it's mainland, with all the factions that didn't make it to main game, and all new questline. So far only the eastern side of mainland can be played but it already a whole big addition to the game.

Nehrim for Oblivion is probably one of the greatest mod ever released. Calling it Total Conversion would be more accurate. As it is basically a new game using Oblivion engine.

Coming from the same team that make Nehrim, Enderal is similar thing for Skyrim. I haven't played it yet, but reviews seems to say that it's as good as Nehrim

For Deus Ex, GMDX (Give Me Deus Ex) is my go to mod. It beautify the look, revamp gameplay to make it more interesting and enhance the experience.

For Fallout 2, there is Fallout 1.5 :Resurrection. That's also can count as a new game
Right now the only mod I'm using is the Elite Force for SWAT 4. Banished, Simcity 4 and X3 are games I can't imagine playing without mods.
Currently playing Skyrim Special Edition with a crapton of mods installed (many of them are convenience things for me, others are enhancements like textures, weather, etc.)

I've DLed Enderal and will likely give that a look-see soon.

I tend to immediately look for convenience mods for any game that supports modding.
Do literal reengineerings count as mods? Because I suppose RVGL counts then.
