I was having a hard time downloading the game Jade Empire via Galaxy, so I brought up the website and downloaded the game manually.

I installed, and then attempted to import the game to Galaxy.

I can play the game via the 'install' link, but import attempts always hang on 'getting file list'.

I did the same thing for Masters of Orion 1 & 2.

1 works flawlessly
2 goes to DOSBox and crashes, but runs flawlessly from the install link.

Verify/Repair has no effect.

Need to remember Galaxy is still beta and that could be the problem.

The point of a Beta is to identify and fix problems before the full release. If the Import function is spotty, it may need some special attention.

And for that, another Import issue.

I installed Vampire the Masquarade: Redemption from CD, updated to 1.1, installed some mods. (Age of Redemption being the biggest.)

I purchased the GOG version during a recent sale so I could return the CD to safe keeping. I can launch the game normally via the desktop link after importing and updating, but launching from the client crashes.

I had also installed Jedi Academy, KotOR and KotOR 2 from the website and imported, but no issues with those.

So it is possible that an update between 'Star Wars day' and yesterday did something to break the import process.

Yeah, well thanks for the enlightenment of beta, although there was no need.
... on the other hand, maybe not.

Neverwinter Nights imported just fine.

Still can't import Jade Empire though.

I think what confused gunsynd is that you're asking the community about it. We can't really help at all.

We do have a bug posting area for GOG Galaxy. Your bug post should go in there. http://mantis.gog.com

Thanks for reporting the bug! Together, we can help ID the bugs and GOG peeps can fix them!
All the games I manually imported worked flawlessly, save a few odd cases like FEZ.

Which OS are you using? By any chance W8.1?

If so:

Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8)

That might be the reason why......

Not saying it might not work, but the update-server goes with THIS info......

I've just imported nearly 100 games on Windows 10... don't see why 8.1 would have an issue.

Depending how the server is setup....

But I know for sure, during the alpha, I had a shitloads of problem, because the auto-update server had hardly any game in it on 8.1, so they did not show up, not being able to import etc......

They might have changed it for the W10 part or they just say, treat unknown (so W10) as XP for example.

But one post indicated for sure, that the database has to match, or it will not download.

Again might have changed.....
