sanscript: And tinyE - I would PAY a service to not see you constantly argue with your mom. At the same time - seeing you feeding banana to your donkeys might be worth it all vs nothing at all :P
I won't stop fighting with her BUT I WILL STOP bitching about it in here. That is a really shitty thing for me to do and I humbly apologize.

tinyE: The FUTURE OF GAMING!

Oh, and by the way, future of gaming is cloud based computers.
You want to play a game but don`t have an appropriate (did I write it right?) PC? Well, you just go into the cloud, and it provides you with a high end gaming computer.

I apologize if I needlessly brought it up. I'll keep that out in the future.
We don't have fast enough service, plus a bandwidth cap.
Streaming is out for us.

Glad I have a stash of GOG games.
If I could never buy another game, I have enough for several years
of playing.
The word bleak comes to mind.

I foresee that gaming is due to cellularly divide. It is long past time we differentiate gaming and esport subscription services

It is much like the difference between a real world game such as a puzzle, word game, choose your own adventure novel type interaction and sports where individuals or squads (uhhhg, kill that word) compete to see who is best.

It is long since time that we divide the terminology so that both forms can thrive instead of the parasitic twin scenario we currently see.

Something has to change or one is effectively going to devour the other.
I'll switch to solitare board games before I switch to streaming. At least those I will actually own.

Chrislemale: What do you guys think?Lg
I vote with my wallet.

Anyway, the worst that could happen to video gaming is what they depicted in Never Say Never Again. Sure, I want to die for real if I lose in a game, yeah right. Sounds pretty stupid to me if you know what I mean.

misteryo: Streaming has advantages. If I don't have to have a $1200 USD pc in order to play new AAA games, but instead need a fast broadband service, that for me is a good trade.

It is not a good trade for TinyE who lives in Siberia.

So, the FUTURE OF GAMING is not that everything will go streaming, but that streaming will become a viable and popular service in places where good broadband exists.

GOG is also profitable, so THE FUTURE OF GAMING looks like it will also include a niche market for DRM-free games and for old games updated to run on new operating systems.

THE FUTURE OF GAMING looks like it will include always-online games from UbiSoft as well.

THE FUTURE OF GAMING looks like it will also include more Spiderweb games, very cool inexpensive indie puzzle games like Recursed, lots of MOBAs and battle royales, mmorpgs, shitty shovelware, innovative games like Undertale, brand new genres like Stardew Valley, spiritual successors funded on kickstarter and made by skilled devs who loved the original gamess like Xenonauts 2, successful indie studios who continue to innovate and delight with every new ip like Klei, etc.

THE FUTURE OF GAMING looks like it will continue to have a higher number of great games released every year alongside an ever larger mountain of trash.

THE FUTURE OF GAMING looks like less and less of a monopoly for Steam and more and more competition between the big players and also more opportunity for the smaller players.

THE FUTURE OF GAMING looks pretty damn good to me.

Cheers.
https://variety.com/2018/gaming/features/death-of-the-console-1202833926/ Ubisoft thinks it will be the last gen of consoles after this so maybe we cant buy games anymore.....So nothing is rosy here gg
I can't see the big guys subsidising the little guys on a streaming platform.

That means the little guys will get better at making good traditional "offline" games... and those of us who like choice will support them.
