No worries -- anyone who's visited the forums halfway regularly since the site's (half-baked) social features rolled out a little while back knows why threads like this exist; after all, in cases like yours (a pre-existing group or community from another part of the intarwebz wanting to find each other here), there is really no other alternative right now. As long as you're not hijacking someone else's thread for this purpose, it's fine. snowkatt is just one of the resident curmudgeons, as well as (apparently) the sheriff of the thread necro police. ; )
