Kakarot96: Edit: The Riftbreaker has 6 offline installers: 2 "exe", 2 "1.bin" and 2 "2.bin" all with same names and sizes except for the exes which show a bit difference: 841032 bits vs 842288 bits. Weird, but nothing new with some offline installers in other games.

Timboli: Yep, it seems that GOG are up to their old duplicate files trick again ... or maybe it's the dev/publisher.
They did that recently with both ARMA games on release.
And it always seems to happen at the start of a weekend.

GOG, you have duplicate EXE and BIN files for The Riftbreaker.
Presumably it should be 3 files not 6.
Thank you, we'll look into this.

_Auster_: I never ran into this issue, but I'd try updating the price by adding and removing something with a price from the cart

IronArcturus: I manually removed a demo, and then manually added it again and that seemed to fix the problem. Thanks!
it's usual GOG website business. I click on gift twice and then I can do the "purchase".
Well I Have played Chained Echoes and it was really good, especially for a pre-alpha demo.

All the mechanics are not there yet but the overdrive system and the ability to switch characters during battle seems interesting. The final part was a lot of fun and I liked the password idea, it was an enjoyable little adventure and I can't wait to listen to the full soundtrack :)

Unfortunately the "Cologne" achievement never unlocked for me, it's a bit sad to miss the 100% just for that but oh well :P

As it's nearing the end of the sale, I'm trying to checkout with 2 games and 9 demos in my cart. Immediately 4 demos were removed from my cart. Being nervous there was a bug or worse I removed the 2 games I had to purchase and checked out the 5 remaining demos, just to see if that would work. It did. But now when I try to add any other demos to my cart they go in for a second then are removed. I don't want to buy the 2 games I want in case there's something dodgy going on. Is this known about? I saw a couple of posts here saying that the demos were being removed for some unknown reason, but it doesn't say that in the GOG post.

Have you tried gifting them to yourself. Sometimes I have to do that for unknown reasons.

On second read you say they get removed seconds after you add them. Hmmm... never have seen that actually.

I'm guessing you had the page open when the demo was removed and the page still let you add it to the cart but it was then removed from the cart due to no longer being available. Looks like 7 of the 11 I got are now not available. IIRC, some of them had a note at the top of the page that they would be going away and some had a note at the bottom of the page :/. Additionally, the As Far As The Eye Demo will be removed on September 1 according to the note at the top. Snowtopia, The Riftbreaker, and VirtuaVerse are doing the reasonable thing and keeping the demo available (also Unbound: Worlds Apart that arrived earlier).

Sildring: Well I Have played Chained Echoes and it was really good, especially for a pre-alpha demo.
For me it had a strange delay between scenes, but I could see that potentially being system specific which is understandable. IMO, developers should not release demos that aren't solid, at least as best they can test with potentially somewhat more limited resources than for the release. I found Chaned Echoes to be ok, but nothing really got me particularly interested.

The Riftbreaker demo was the most slick demo I tried, although not really my thing. It was the parts of Factorio that I least like (the developers call it Factorio x Diablo, although it also looks similar in some ways to their previous game X-Morph), plus it badly needed a no blood option (or at least make it not red like Factorio).

I didn't like the Vesper graphic design and the levels seem solid but not that interesting to me, although I might try it again just in case I was just in a bad mood :/ (and I'll probably pick it up eventually since I like platformers).

Similarly, Unbound: Worlds Apart was ok and seemed solid but not that exciting to me. I'll likely pick it up at some point.

Growbot was the only adventure game demo that seemed slightly interesting to me, although it felt clunky and was super short. Another one I'll try eventually but likely not at release.

Danger Scavenger hung the first two times I tried to start it but in slightly different places so I tried again and it worked with no other issues. It has an arcade style with excessive loot that I'm not fond of.

St.Ross:
Can you tell me why I can't try Chained Echoes' demo from here anymore? Do I really have to pick it from your competitor's store?

That doesn't really look like a smart move Gog. You already have to use the disk space to hold it. You already wrote the article to promote this demo among others. You have several links to it, even from the game's own page. Yet you inexplicably put the demos out there with a timer, and a very short one at that. What do you gain from limiting access to a demo, for crying out loud?

It's the sort of decision that makes me wonder what kind of alien entity makes the decisions at Gog. Whatever it is it must come from some dimension where everything makes just as much sense as non-Euclidean geometry and the math is based on imaginary numbers.

Edit: typo

The worst scenarios are demos/betas that are only up for a short while AND pulled from your library. The Spellforce 3 Beta was like that here. Luckily I downloaded that before it was pulled.
I was going to ask why I can't see some of the promised demos, but I suppose the time limit some apparently had means that they got pulled before I was even aware they were available. I'm on gog every day, so that is strange. Also, how does one go to older news articles? There are only 3 pages of news headlines available and that's it?

That is it. :-( GOG needs a news archive. On last Friday, some items dropped off the news carousel in less than four hours.

There is one GOG customer who has made this thread:

At least someone at GOG had the decency to sticky it.
so many demos, ah feels good, just like the old days of ps1 magazines with the demo disk! <3
Cheers for the replies. Yeah that's probably it, I must've missed the time limit notices and they were taking down the demos as I was checking out.

I miss demos, they made you excited for a game like nothing else.

Yeah that is one deeper level of braindead ideas.

It took a few days, but has now finally been sorted by GOG, with only 3 files listed for downloading.

Unfortunately for me, they were not the three I had downloaded, which all now fail the current checksums, so I am currently re-downloading.

By the way, I used my GOGRepo Simple GUI program to check my files (compare checksums).
