[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic. (this one)
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

Sorry for not being so precise. You can download it without using Steam Client. You just have to link Humble Bundle with Steam account which you don't have to use afterwards if game has Humble Bundle DRM free download.

Irrelevant for someone dead set against Steam.

This thread is about free games that are permanently tied to the owner's account. The games you mentioned are free temporary trials.

This thread should be dead already and everybody should be only posting in the new one which was created to avoid this never-ending discussions about the purpose of the thread.

That being said, even the new thread doesn't explicitly forbid posting Steam Free Weekend deals like those posted by Vitaliuz, so... (I would post them in the "Gaming Deals thread", so I kinda agree with you after all :P)

The title of this thread is "Temporary keys giveaway". It is very simple and sraight forward - full games obtained via direct download or via keys. Free trials do not provide users with keys/games permanently tied to their accounts.

1) As I said at the end of my reply, I agree with you that Steam Free Weekend deals don't belong here (nor in the other thread).

2) The meaning and purpose of this thread has been debated ad nauseam in its very same pages, without reaching a consensus. By your own definition, dropping spare Steam and GOG codes should be OK, as they serve the purpose of "providing users with keys/games permanently tied to their accounts". Yet there are many people who oppose this practice (yours truly among them), as its likely not what the OP wanted and there are other specific threads for dropping codes.

The games are permanently tied to the owner's account, in a way. If you participate in a free weekend event, your progress is saved for when you either buy the game or participate in the next free event. You could conceivably play exclusively during free events and level up.

Not my style of play, but it may work for others. :)

It does not stay permanently tied to the user's account. It stays temporarily. It is a trial.
This is a full game/key giveaway thread, not trials and demos giveaway.
Maybe you should start a new thread about trials/demos. :-)
