Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

kmcoolice: So these people who in GOG's (General) Trading Thread say they own available keys of Saint's Row 2, Eador: Genesis, Mount and Blade because these games copies are in their GOG library too before free giveaways happened. I thought reading people posts and wondering how they have separate game keys as a gift codes and I don't.

BenKii: Right, they most likely already owned the game and so when they clicked on the "claim" button during the freebie period, they were given a gift code instead.

ExZeus 2, previously on Android/iOS and Windows 8 and 10 PCs/Phone is free-to-play for PC on itch.io and DRM-free, although a paid version with unlimited continues is available here. As someone who played the Windows 8 version of this game, I've noticed some features and settings missing in this re-release (no Y-axis inversion, no rebindbable keys, missing difficulty levels, etc.). The dev seems to be updating it regularly so they might fix issues and missing features down the line.

Bear in mind this was originally a smartphone game, so if it the PC version feels like something that belongs on a phone is probably because of that. The developer was also trying to get the game up on Steam through Steam Greenlight however the Steam Greenlight system ended a few weeks after the game was submitted. There's also a predecessor game called ExZeus Arcade, which was an updated version of ExZeus for the arcade and PlayStation 2 (or Counter Force on the Wii), though sadly still only on smartphones but the developer mentioned on the Steam Greenlight page he'll considering porting it to PC if there's enough interest for it. Here's gameplay footage of the PlayStation 2 port.

What do you think about china trojan in free games and giveaways. Not onlu chinese's ones although.
Could you catch it if your AV do not list it as it does not list rdp and as games install are usely openibg firewall rules ?

Read the Summary at the bottom if you don't want to read the really long bit!
1 - Steam, GOG, Origin, UPlay etc probably wont have viruses. Origin and Uplay are owned by and only have games that are made by Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. Steam is big enough to filter through its games as they are uploaded and make sure there are no viruses, and GOG mainly specialises in well known games, and they don't get well known by giving you viruses. So any games that are free from there (Steams promotions like the recent Payday 2, GOG's front-page promotions like Fantasy General, Origin's On The House Deals, and UPlay's Christmas giveaway are all safe.

2 - IndieGala, Humble Bundle giveaways, MarvelousGA etc giveaways deal in manly steam keys, so treat that as above. As long as you don't download anything from those sites to unlock the Steam key, you'll be fine.

3 - Game Giveaway of the Day... probably no viruses. I haven't used it, so don't take my word. Although it's probably fine, I heard it is bundled with ad-ware, which may contain viruses, but are most likely just Potentially Unwanted Programs. As long as you un-tick the other 'goodies' that it comes with, it should be fine!

4 - Softonic, CNET, Download . com etc. DO NOT GO THERE, they offer free programs, but are almost always bundled with PuP's, and even commonly viruses. A mate of mine broke his computer by downloading Minecraft for free from Softonic. They had to get a new one. True story.

Summary:
If the games is a promotion from a well known game platform, game developer website, it is almost 100% risk free. If it is a giveaway from a bundle site that offers steam keys, it is almost 100% risk free as long as you don't have to download anything else to get the key. GGOTD is safe, but untick the unwanted stuff. Similar sited to GGOTD may also be safe to, as long as you untick the other stuff, and Google about it first. Pirate sites are not safe. If your AV has picked up a trace a virus, Google it - it's better safe than sorry!

You are supposed to receive 2 emails entitled "Hey adventurer, your free game has arrived!" containing the keys and a link to the GOG redeem page. Check your Inbox and spam folders. I just bought 2 games in the sale and received the redemption emails within minutes

Thanks, again, for the info. So de PS2 version was only released on Europe, interesting. The Wii version was available on NA. By watching the gameplay seems the kind of game that takes advange of the Wii Mote features. A PC mouse would be comfortable too.

From what I was able to dig up, the old PC version of ExZeus 1 was shareware with what I'm guessing a level or two playable until you buy the full game from the distributor that had it for the time, but seems like the shareware distributor went under and so did the shareware's official downloads (there might be backups around somewhere). I was able to get a hold of the full game of ExZeus 1 on PC and it feels like a direct port of the arcade version(?) and not the PS2 port; the options are bare bones as PC ports go, 640x480 low-resolution, lack-luster controller support although you can rebind keyboard controls (uses keyboard only), and unlike the PS2 version and onward, bullets don't cancel into gold when destroying the enemy that fired them. What strikes me as odd about this port is its copyright date (see the screenshot attachment), which was copyrighted in 2002-2003, which is very strange. Maybe the version I have is an older build? In any rate, I'm hoping this new port of ExZeus 2 does well to warrant a port of ExZeus Arcade from smartphones to PC in a similar manner.

If this is about ExZeus 2 having a warning when attempting to install the F2P version from itch.io, I seriously doubt itch.io (or any other distributors that carry ExZeus 2) would allow anything malicious to slip by their radar. I've also installed and played this game and nothing adverse happened to my computer.
