benderz: NEOTOKYO is a first person shooter that provides a visceral & realistic combat experience in a rich futuristic setting. It is greatly influenced by our admiration for Masamune Shirow (GHOST IN THE SHELL) and Katsuhiro Otomo (AKIRA), and has been in production since October 2004. To play NEOTOKYO you will need to have a STEAM account, and own the game HALFLIFE 2 or any game that gives you the Source SDK ...

Heard about this a while back. Will have a look

I would not download FULL free games from here again ... Played Area 51 .. Quit .. Tried later to play and wouldn't load .. Looked in Task Manager and was indeed running .. Clicked shortcut again and little window said Instance of this app already running and either choose try or purchase .. NO gui to do so ... UNINSTALLED .. Uninstalled all the free games for similar reasons.
BUMMER ... was really getting to like Area 51 :(

Ah yes - that's where you get the ad supported midway games (rise and fall, the suffering and area 51)
To underscore how Bulletstorm puts the fun back in the gun, EA is releasing parodies that poke fun at some of today's most serious shooters. First was the "Last Call" video that spoofed Halo's famous commercial. Today they're back with a fully playable FREE downloadable game that takes on some of today's most popular shooters.

Awakening is a single player Source engine modification (Half-Life2).

http://www.bluestrike.be/index.php/awakening
Fortress Forever is a Team Fortress mod for Half-life 2's Source Engine. Our independent team has created this mod entirely from scratch.

Fortress Forever should please those who have stuck with or been a part Half-life: TFC over the years while at the same time doing more for new TF players than any prior Fortress attempt.

Fortress Forever is free to those who purchase Half-life 2.

Fistful of Frags is a first person shooter set in the Old West times. Take part in frenzy team versus shootouts or play cooperative games against AI managed enemies.

DSL .. so like always on

Found Area 51 download from an Australian site which seems to run better .. but also no ads. free is free and comes with its own problems at times ... Just too bad can't buy some of these Freeware ... I'd pay for them to work better and more faithfully (although not an exuberant amount like I have seen Area 51 being sold for on Amazon ... )

Thinking maybe the ads were pulled and the old software is still trying to activate outdated and unused protocols to run it and so bottlenecking ... don't know ...

Yes, I think that would be correct - it's been a while since those versions were uploaded no doubt.
One missing from the list is Red Alert: A Path Beyond (shooter set in the Red Alert universe with tanks and helicopters and stuff)
Available from www.bluehellproductions.com
100% free to download and play.

Would that be AusGamers?
http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/39194

I already downloaded the earlier one, but did not install it cos this thread sorta scared me of a bit. As I've already possibly wasted 2gb of my download on this one, I'll rely on someone else to be guinea pig this time. Sorry. Please post back results forthe rest of us Free Game Vulchers. Thankyou.

I find it amusing that I never checked AusGamers before. I'm Aussie! Its not like its a small, unknown site here or anything. What a drongo.
