Seeing burning police cars makes me feel all... warm inside.

Siannah: I agree with a lot of the above. But the keypoint of today is, that what ever reason or legitimate complaints the Blockupy movement was about to bring to the table, has fallen under it completely because of said violence - how is that effective or even anywhere near a solution?
It isn't anywhere near a solution. But it's effective, because people notice the protest and media gives it a lot of coverage. And many of the people who saw it on TV will ask themselves what the Blockupy movement is and what they are trying to achieve.
Hi. I'm out of the loop. What's this about then?

jamyskis: 'm not sure what else people can do except express themselves through violence.

immi101: haven't really followed this very much, just catched a bit on the radio. I can sort of understand your reasoning, but:
attacking the fire department? public transport? an asylum center ?!?
sorry, but that sort of violence is inexcusable. No matter how angry you are about the status quo.
The reason this happens is usually because the things/people that the protesters are angry at is so protected that they can't get to it/them. So they went their anger on some random, usually state controlled, thing.
Not saying it's like this here because I don't know but that's a common reason this happens.

Attacking an asylum / shelter of traumatized Syrian kids? Or firefighters? That's about as counter-effective as it gets.
That the organisers of the peaceful part now even (at least partly) justified the violence instead of clearly condemning it, will surely help people making their own judgement - though certainly not the way Blockupy wanted.

I haven't heard anything about attacking an asylum or firefighters. If that's true that's certainly completely counter-effective and I certainly won't justify it in any way.
