I don't think it's relevant, to be honest.

I'm pretty sure everybody believes my role claim. I don't care about your vanilla claim one way or the other - at this point we're just dumping all the information on the table, and a vanilla claim is irrelevant to the rest of the process.

We just need Joe to claim his super dooper secret targets and then we can get down to business.

Why?

Not sure what answer you expect other than what you can make out yourself. I thought it'd be a popular role. Would mafia bid a popular role expecting others to bid for it and risking losing it when they could safely take something else? I'd have thought not. Anything preventing them from doing it? Not at all.

I was part of a group of Town that made it all the way to the end and ripped the wolves' hearts out and wrecked their souls

The last couple of game Days actually are really good... a very good example of how Townies can overcome their mutual suspicion and work together to intelligently sort the remaining player list

(Not saying that's like this game, don't take anything that way.)
