The discussion has been waging back and forth for all Day and everyone has become tired. Even the lights. At least the evening lights grow dimmer and dimmer - and still no one dares to throw the final stone at either HSL or mchack. So in the end everyone decides to go to bed instead and hope...

Final Vote Count

IT IS NOW NIGHT. CEASE POSTING! IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO A NIGHTLY CHAT, GO THERE AND DISCUSS YOUR NIGHT ACTIONS.

At night, voices plague your dreams. Many voices which are yet one.
"Join us! Never be alone again. See the death and destruction around you that SHE wages. See the hostility in your human race and leave it behind. Be one. Be us! We are not your enemies. We will not kill you but make you one of us. Be alive with us! Not cold steel and dead flesh as SHE would make you. Open your mind and your doors to us and know peace and unity."

**********************************************************
Finally the ships faulty systems decide, that it is Dawn. The lights get brighter and some electronic, distorted birdsong is heard. Slowly you awake. Well, most of you. Hunter does not wake up but lies there dead and cold. A moment you mourn his passing, then you get the drill ready to check - and you find something disgusting. His brain is swarming with little worms and other parasites.
**********************************************************

Hunter65536 is dead. He was a Mutant.

**********************************************************
Quickly you get rid of his body. At least no human died. But you can't help but wonder what else happened during the night. Is everyone still who he was yesterday? And who did the killing? Someone among you is still a murderer and SHODAN and THE MANY continue their fight for your souls.
**********************************************************

It is now Day 2. You may resume posting. All votes are reset to 0 and all posting restrictions / penalties are lifted.
With 11 alive, it takes 6 to lynch.

So, Hunter flips scum, and no other apparent activity during the night.

Couple of possibilities:
1) He was town vanilla, and targeted with a recruit and a NK.

2) He was scum.
2a) He tried to recruit scum/mason, while other team successfully converted.
2b) His team successfully recruited, while other team NK'd him.

3) One of the teams did nothing. This is too absurd to do more than discard it.

So. Either he was town and there are 3 conversion shots remaining, or he was scum and there are 2-3 conversion shots remaining. I'm leaning toward him having been scum from the start, with a slight lean toward death by conversion attempt.

I haven't gone over Hunter's post history yet. Trent, Flub, and Mchack are all lynch candidates for me right now.

That seems to about cover it, Hunter wasn't really on my radar at all day 1 so I could easily buy that he was scum keeping a low profile or that he was town and was successfully converted.
But I can't see why the other scum team would then have tried to shoot him, unless they'd considered his quietness to be a sign he was a mason.

The only other option I can see is that he was town and both teams tried to recruit him, but I assume in that case he would still flip as town (it would seem a little unfair for the thing that killed him to also change his alignment) though that's not 100% clear from the rules.

So worst case scenario right now is that we are 4 scum, 4 vanilla and 3 masons. Best case is 3 scum, 5 vanilla and 3 masons, but I think it's best to at least assume the worst.

I'm not sure whether to just take up where we left off yesterday or not. I still believe mchack is scum, and there is a strong chance flub was successfully converted, but I don't think just rushing in and placing votes is going to be the best option here.

No lynch day 1 really hurt town I think. We are now in a situation (exactly as I predicted; told you so) where we almost have to lynch flub as he has likely been compromised and we are 1 town down. Admittedly we are 1 scum down too so things could definitely be worse, but we may well have a scum team of 3 and 1 instead of 2 and 2 and I think that may be worse. If they successfully convert tomorrow too and we don't hit another scum (and the other team doesn't kill them) then they won't be far off controlling the lynch.

Since double conversion kills the target, I'd assume the flip will either be town or will reflect the double conversion attempt. I just don't see any other reasonable/fair way to resolve the flip.

I didn't see any reason not to go ahead and place my vote, especially since someone would have to budge from their Day 1 position before Mchack could be lynched anyway.

Lifthrasil: 1.) I'm mean, so conversions are quick and death is slow and painful. I.e. Conversions resolve first, NKs second.
2.) No. (S)he just wakes up with a new conviction, but only gets access to the chat in the following night.
I take this to mean that both scum teams could not have targeted him for recruitment. Either he was scum to begin with and NKed, or he was converted and then NKed. Lifthrasil's quote seems to indicate his alignment would be scum either way in the Dawn post.

Yes, we have less information than we had yesterday. Or, maybe more information, but more questions to overcompensate.

Color me surprised, I didn't see Hunter as scum at all this game.

For me not much has changed and I still see HSL or dedo as our best bet of lynching scum today. Before I am even willing to contemplate adalia, flub, or mchack as a possible lynch candidate I would like to see how the day progresses first.

So no desire to look at anyone else? Interesting. Makes me think you had the power to recruit last night, do you mind saying who you used it on? Or was Hunter your partner and he tried to recruit a Mason or another scum player?

This is such a laughably transparent smear that I'm not sure whether you were expecting any kind of response at all.
Hunter65536 didn't really ping me Yesterday, except for a brief moment there when he voted trentonlf in post #584 - when I saw it, it felt a bit like he was looking for a reason to vote him. Have to revisit his interactions, and votes now that he's dead, and try to see which of the possible cases fits better.

Speaking of votes, and as a side note - @Krypsyn, flubbucket should have 0 votes in your D1 vote count.

[emphasis added]

An attempt from both scum teams prevents either conversion to go through, so "the thing" that kills a townie has no specific alignment, and hence no change of alignment can take place. That's how it was discussed in the mafia admin thread, and that's what the setup document seems to at least indicate. So, I think that Bookwyrm627 covered all possible cases.

ZFR: Incidentally, this would mean 2 teams got two different reads on him. Looks to me like (2) happened.
I read this to mean that you think it's less likely that he was read differently by the two scum teams, if he was initially town. If so, why?
OK, a preliminary re-read, I think for the time being I'll go with

vote flub

It's likely he got recruited and a small chance he was scum to begin with.
I believe this should have been done yesterday as the least of all evils, since we couldn't agree on anyone else. Better than the no-lynch that happened.

I have some insights that I thought I could share, but it would involve discussing masons. I know you got real angry about it yesterday though, so really not sure how much I should say.
