Lifthrasil: Allright. I'll accept that as validation of the vote in the post above. But try not to make a habit out of it! ;-)

Sage103082: Lift can we get a vote count please. Sigh Flub and Hyper have not come into the game yet. Can we please not move to fast on this.
It's ok, no one's getting lynched till at least everyone has checked in..

Sage103082: Are you guilty of something? If not is there a reason you would like my vote?
I'm guilty of trying to pay attention, which tends to be punished.

At any rate, I no longer require your services or your vote because someone else came through for me.

Though if you'd like to be a dear, you could vote yourself for me.

Bookwyrm627: As soon as I made that post, I had this really bad moment of imagining everyone else voting me at once, resulting in an impromptu lynch with me face-palming all the way to the dead thread since I'd literally asked for it.
avatar
adaliabooks: That's certainly a quicker method than your usual day 1 antics.
I know, right?

It might have taken first place on my "most useless ways to die" list, too. It would edge out "Bouncy Castle of Bones" since that death removed scum day chat. It might also edge out the doctor self-hammer since that helped turn that particular game into a right and proper SNAFU.

avatar
adaliabooks: I'm fairly sure this is unnecessary though.. it should be fairly obvious what he is doing (and why).
I had a nice little theory, but there's a weak link in the chain. Maybe I'll see that link later.

Kill the observant!

I remember the self vote (that was Quad's space game wasn't it? about my only decent scum game that, shame it ended in.. whatever the hell it ended in) but not the Bouncy Castle, which game was that?

So since this is an open set up lets do a little pondering;

Starting numbers are;
2 Cyborgs (Shodan’s Children)
2 Mutants (The Many)
3 Hackers (Masons)
5 Townies

Very worst case (but highly unlikely) scenario is that both scum teams successfully convert two townies the first two nights. Which would mean Day 3 with 4 Cyborgs, 4 Mutants, 3 Hackers and 1 Townie (minus two lynches on whoever they hit) and I don't think town could survive that situation (though I suppose stranger things have happened...).
Fortunately that case is a very very edge case as the convert shots are a risky move for scum with a 50% chance of not only failure, but death, on the first night at least. So we may never even see them get used depending how the game plays out.

But even with out the convert shots we're looking at two NKs a night which means 3 deaths per day/night cycle (assuming we don't no lynch and both scum teams hit different targets) so we're looking at likely 4 game days, though there are quite a few variables to that.

We have a very useful guaranteed town voting block in those three masons, but their use is severely limited (at least in the first few days) by the fact that them claiming means they will either be quickly NK'd or the plain Townies become easier to convert for scum.
So we want as many of them to survive till the end game as possible, both to give scum something to think about when trying to use their converts and to have some guaranteed town on the board for the final day or two (which tend to be the hairiest).

So in conclusion... try not to lynch any of the masons and force them to claim.

Yeah, space station epsilon was the self vote.

The bouncy castle was from a game Vitek hosted. You probably do remember it for something else: the Town Arsonist was present.

Wow, the Town Arsonist was 24 games and 2 years ago. How the time flies.

Yeah, I should remember it, I did co mod it XD

I only really remember flub's stellar play as the town arsonist though...

And now I feel old. :P

I was (and find that I still am) amused by methodology back then, but Flub did overshadow pretty much everything else that was in that game.

On somewhat more current events: would you mind voting Sage for me? I have a feeling she won't help me on this. I'd do it myself, but I already did.

Peace. The game has barely been up for the length of an extended work day. HSL might well be sleeping or something.

true, but now he's got a nice warm surprise vote waiting for him when he comes home :)

so what were you trying to find out with that voting call? guess I'm not observant enough to notice it... the only things I saw is that krypsyn says nothing but vote unvote and FOS (and votecount thanks for that :) and uses a colon unlike everone else (probably wants to get script kiddies off track with that ;) but I haven't noticed anything on why you asked for votes...

very neat overview that post but you forgot to mention the other power of the "town voting block": they have a day chat which might or might not prove useful for town, depending on how it's used.
