Suddenly the PA system turns on and an eery female voice echoes through the bridge.

"Why do you str-ruggle like this ... this, puny humans? C-cant you ssee how weak your ... b-bodies are? You n-need not die! I c-can make you whole. I can give you l-life ... life. Come to me ... to me ... to my conversion booths and I'll re-forge you. Better. Sm-marter. Fas-ster. Together we will purge ... purger the Shship of this disgusting... gusting Mutant infectation and I ... I ... I will lead you to the dawn ... dawn of a new age."

HypersomniacLive: I'm having some trouble reconciling the two bits I highlighted.
OK.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Up to that point, nobody had given any reads on players. How was mchack doing it helping him in not sticking out? If anything, I'd say it caused the exact opposite.
I agree it caused the opposite, hence why we started the discussion we are currently having. That doesn't mean the original goal was not something else.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Would you say that it's still probably so even if one were a town PR?
I won't be discussing power roles. I suggest you don't either, unless it becomes very necessary.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Are you saying that:
(i) given the context of adaliabooks post #161, and
(ii) having taken into account it's D1,
that you thought adaliabooks may have been joking about placing a serious vote on mchack based on a gut feeling? And if so, you considered he may be joking about which part, his vote being a serious one, or the reasoning for it?
Calling mchack scum. At the time it was just words, no votes. The reasoning was very D1, so it doesn't hold that much weight.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Seriously?
Seriously.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: How so?
A gut feeling. Do you think it's as likely that a hacker is the D1 lynch? How so?

By the way, should I be addressing you from now on when I'd like to discuss mchack related topics?
avatar
dedoporno: Pretty sure a hacker won't end up being the lynch, [...]
avatar
HypersomniacLive: [emphasis added]

How so?
I have to agree with dedo here. I want to say more, but it touches on the whole strategies thing I talked about earlier and I don't want to give scum any ideas...

avatar
adaliabooks: [...] The response to dedo's prod seems a bit desperate to me too. [...]
avatar
HypersomniacLive: What exactly about it seems desperate to you?
What doesn't? He tries to make a semi-serious case for why wyrm is a mutant (because worms) and krypsyn is some kind of vote slave and then laughs it off and says its all a joke because we're not out of RVS.
It reeks of trying too hard to cover up a slip to me.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: And I'm still waiting for your answer to my question (post #200).

And speaking of Krypsyn - has anybody ISO'd him? He's gone the whole game so far without making a single comment on anything; all his posts are votes/unvotes and vote counts.
I'm assuming you mean this one:

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Is he? I agree that he's not all over the place, but is he really just merely voting whoever has the most votes?
As I'd hope my last post covers the what I find scummy about mchack question...

I'm not sure I see what you are getting at?

As far as I can tell Krypsyn has consistently voted whoever has the most votes so far, he obviously has some kind of tie break system which I think is whoever got voted last but I haven't paid enough attention to be sure of that.

And yes, I'm well aware that his only actual commentary is about the vote counts he has made.

But I still prefer his input so far to the likes of flub or sage's lurking.

If he keeps it up tomorrow then he's probably getting my vote, but for now I can't really hold it against him.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: I don't think I understand. Please elaborate.
avatar
dedoporno: Pretty sure a hacker won't end up being the lynch, so it's either a Townie or scum. If it's scum we're golden, but if it's Townie, despite it's generally bad for us, it leaves the scum with fewer good targets for conversion.
Agreed.

Lynch me.
avatar
adaliabooks: ............
sage's lurking.
......
Or lynch Sage.

I don't think she has a proper willie
avatar
flubbucket: Agreed.

Lynch me.
I'm always happy to accept volunteers on day 1.
avatar
ZFR: [...] _My first gut feeling. Based on my experience with Resistance, you talk a lot you're scum. Adalia seems to talk a lot. [...]
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Is he the only one that talks a lot? If not, what differentiates him from the others?
No. There were others too.
Picking him relates to my second point: I have to pick somebody. He's as good as any.

But it's not set in stone. I'd be happy to pick someone else if they act scummier. I'm seriously not sure what the correct "protocol" is here. Better not to pick anyone and wait?

I think you're doing just fine.

Lynch me.

adaliabooks: I'm always happy to accept volunteers on day 1.
And yet you're voting Bookwyrm627??
avatar
ZFR: If you find it too much, you can go to Settings to increase the number of posts per page from 20 to 50.
That way you will only have 3 pages instead of 6 to read, so it should go much faster.
avatar
Sage103082: This made me giggle.

avatar
dedoporno: @adalia, would you say one player is becoming 3x more unfortunate than the rest? If yes, who would that be - flub, Leonard, Sage or Krypsyn?
avatar
Sage103082: huh?

avatar
flubbucket: Brains
avatar
Sage103082: Some people thought it was trains and passed on them. (That is a Dad joke curiosity of my father)
Speaking of trains you didn’t jump on one and leave town did you?

Any particular reason you are feeling suicidal?

avatar
Krypsyn: .....
So what are your thoughts on flub and Sage pertaining to this game?
avatar
trentonlf: So what are your thoughts on flub and Sage pertaining to this game?
Or anyone, really.
avatar
trentonlf: So what are your thoughts on flub and Sage pertaining to this game?

dedoporno: Or anyone, really.
Agree, but I was wanting his response to my question.
argh, I'm trying to post but the forum won't let me ... all quotes are in order as far as I can see and the preview looks fine but it'll just never send the post only the circle going on and on. this is so enervating....
Part II

HypersomniacLive: What exactly about it seems desperate to you?

adaliabooks: What doesn't? He tries to make a semi-serious case for why wyrm is a mutant (because worms) and krypsyn is some kind of vote slave and then laughs it off and says its all a joke because we're not out of RVS.

ok, let's talk about that "slip":

avatar
Lifthrasil: Those working with the mutants - mutants themselves - always had tiny, disgusting worms in their brain.
avatar
mchack: vote book-WYRM-627

there, there I found our first mutant! :D Praise me!
it started so early as post #15! and it's about his name. His name. You call that semi-serious? what the hell is serious about that? we're not getting our roles handed out by which name we have. Or do you assume I'm a hacker, because of my name? or would you call anyone saying that being semi serious? I'm really having a hard time going further than this but ok. you asked for it.

In post #18 wyrm underlines the o in worms and the Y in WYRM and answers so:
avatar
Bookwyrm627: Nah, you got it all wrong. I underlined the part where you made a mistake. I know it is an easy mistake to make; SHODAN told me it would come up.
he acknoledges he got the joke and even made one himself about actually being cyborg (the shodan part)
post #56: I unvote bookwyrm underlining the Y as my reason for the unvote (playing the joke on)
post #60: I ask wyrm what he was doing with his asking for votes (not getting it) and observing krypsyn says nothing but vote (and unvote etc)
post #62: ZFR votes me for being impatiant.
post #94: the joining of wagons you mentioned (the only time I wasn't the first/alone in voting someone) still very much rvs, dedo tries voting lift later on, flub votes for a "mason" nothing serious, not even all players have signed in
post #109: Hunter picks up the worms joke, saying it might be the reason hsl is sick
post #114: dedo unvotes lift seing it gets reflected off to himself and asks adalia "what now"
post #116: adalia answers "kill someone - still working on the someone part though"
posts #117-#126: I suggest suicide to adalia for the greater good (need I explain I'm still in joke mode?) - adalia says I should try it - I don't want to, say it's not really suicide if adalia is a cyborg - adalia says he's human, but I know alot about cyborgs, asks if I'm one - I say nope normal broken bones and all
post #127: bookwyrm votes me (jokingly) saying there's no xray on bridge
post #128: I lol
post #129: krypsyn votes me (making me the prettiest princess with 3 votes)
post #130: I (having still not gotten any answer to my question to wyrm in #60 and still not understood krypsyns voting pattern) asked krypsyn for an explanation for his vote. the other two are clearly jokes but this I didn't understand. So I ask:
avatar
Krypsyn: Unvote: Krypsyn
Vote: mchack
avatar
Lifthrasil: Hi, Krypsyn :) glad you're back!
Did I take the finger joke too far? or are you in fact the second mutant with bookwyrm? or have you seen "something" like wyrm but won't talk only vote? or am I just pretty (which would be nice of you to say :)
with the joke being him being the second mutant with wyrm (referring to my joke and his vote following right after that of wyrm)

post #136: bookwyrm gives a hint that we should look at krypsyns posts and at what he (wyrm) is doing
post #139: HSL answers to Hunters worm joke his guts are fine and asks adalia how about worms quoting him not knowing about cyborgs (showing that the worm joke is still up and going)
post #142: dedo comes in and asks:
avatar
mchack: Did I take the finger joke too far? or are you in fact the second mutant with bookwyrm?
avatar
dedoporno: The second mutant? Why not the second cyborg or just scum? Why mutant specifically?
What? has he been sleeping? I thought it was self expanatory by the time.

my answer being:
avatar
mchack: well I think I established that wyrm is bound to be a mutant (because of the worms) so if krypsyn is a vote slave of wyrm, that would mean he's the second mutant.
Anyway... aren't we still in RVS? I'm mostly making jokes, I don't have any serious fos's or votes yet...
still having not worked out how wyrm and krypsyn are connected in voting (wyrms hint was only 9 posts before that and I hadn't reread, just thinking that krypsyn might simply vote whoever wyrm votes...

I think that is all I can really say about this "slip"
avatar
mchack: argh, I'm trying to post but the forum won't let me ... all quotes are in order as far as I can see and the preview looks fine but it'll just never send the post only the circle going on and on. this is so enervating....
GOG really is annoying at times with how poorly the forums work
