Hunter65536: Played only a couple of games so it may not be accurate but this is how it goes imo
*Day 1 starts*
Random votes for random reasons
Someone starts posting seriously
Someone else joins and says something which catches attention of people
People start piling on person above and if he defends successfully then it’s back to previous step
Else he gets lynched and his flip(town or scum) is used on day 2 to examine their wagon
*day 1 ends*
That's about right I would say.

It's random until the point where it's not, usually because someone said something others have found to be suspicious or because someone tried to stir things up and got themselves lynched for it (this is usually me or Bookworm's job).

I would pile on any old player and lynch them, but with the requirement to be careful not to lynch our masons I want to be a little more cautious this game.
This is ZFR's first game. Not sure if he has followed previous games or played elsewhere (or other, similar versions of the game) but his pondering over whether or not it's good to get recruited ringed as genuine newbie Town. Or he made a fantastic first-time-player pre-emptive play in a convincing enough way. Either way he's good in my book.

Time for The Count

***********************************************
flubbucket 1 - trent (123)
adalia 2 - Leonard (169), Krypsyn (171)
Krypsyn 1 - Sage (22)
mchack 1 - Bookwyrm (127)

not voting: flubb, dedo, adalia, ZFR, Hunter, mchach, HSL
with 12 alive it takes 7 to lynch. adalia is closest at L-5

, it’s a gif of a crow. Mine was as adalia had described in post 175. [url=https://i.pinimg.com/736x/ac/db/c4/acdbc4293de57e6e820c5517bc94fafe--sleepless-nights-go-to-sleep.jpg]This image with GOG logo on gremlin’s head.

Not Mafia. But we played Resistnace quite a bit back in college.

The one thing I remember from that (but that was different, you saw the people face to face and were usually drinking) is that those who talked a lot were spies (so by that logic: adaliabooks, Bookwyrm mchack). That's till you got to the intelligent players, who were spies if they talked very little (Krypsyn, Sage, HSL - but he's sick, possibly Leonard). Then there were those who were intelligent, who knew you were intelligent, and knew you knew they were intelligent, so they tried to be one step ahead of you.

Going completely random means there is 4/11 chance of making a good lynch, but 4/11 of making a bad lynch and 3/11 of making a really really bad lynch. A good lynch also eliminates a potential recruit before they get the chance to use that ability.

I'm wondering if a no-lynch vote is actually good in this particular setup, since there are two scum factions and they may kill each other. However, the chance of scum killing scum is only 1/5 and the chance of both scum factions killing each other is 1/25. But, they also have conversion, which has to be taken into account.

Going to think about it. But from now onwards, my votes are serious. Possibly, or even probably, still random to a point, but serious nonetheless.

Even with two scum teams possibly killing each other I don't think no lynch is worth it. I'd only ever advocate for it if we had decent investigative roles whose results could really help the game.

As it is scum could well kill two masons N1 if we're really unlucky and we're left with very little.

By lynching we at least have a kill that is under our control and get another chance to hit scum (particularly as the two scum teams may actively try not to kill each other N1 as their chances may be better with 4 scum and 6 town then 2 scum and 8 town, or 3 scum and 7 town).

dedoporno: @adalia, would you say one player is becoming 3x more unfortunate than the rest?
I've been thinking about it, and I don't understand this question. Please elaborate.

I think you meant "courtesy", but I like your way better.

mchack: Krypsyn is all over the place with his voting and kryptyc votecounts.
There is a method to the madness.

Oh, Adalia already spilled the beans. I was going to make you work for it. The self-voting and vote requests from earlier were me confirming this by moving Krypsyn's vote around for him.

ZFR: I was under the impression that Day 1 ends as soon as everyone votes. And all of it is considered a random voting round. Basically just for giggles.
Day 1 ends when someone collects a majority of the votes (7, in this case) or when time runs out (which usually results in No Lynch).

Too funny.

Also, the last time I saw something that funny, it was scum using it as cover.

Don't depend on scum to do your work for you. They have a better chance of hitting a mason than of hitting scum.

Yes I believe it was. I think Hunter tried to post a pic of it but the formatting is messed up. Have you noticed someone playing more reserved than they usually do on Day 1? They are posting but It’s nothing that is memorable?
That last post of mine came out pretty screwed up

Read me and dedo's conversation early in the game, you'll see what he meant.

Well obviously not, but if they were to find another player scummy they may avoid NKing them (both in the hopes of hitting a mason and to keep total scum numbers up in the early game).
Equally they may try and take them out ASAP to reduce the risk of being NK'd by them and may see it easier to go it alone, who knows.

Yeah, I read up on it and from what I've seen no-lynch is almost never a good solution.

Vote: adaliabooks

mchack: And how would they do that? actively try not to kill each other? breadcrumb or claim scum? :D
Just don't target the scummier players. Aim for people that seem to be playing for town.

There's no reason to breadcrumb that you are scum. You have no reason to point back at it later, and town WILL kill you for it if they find it. Not to mention your scum enemies would love to spend a lynch ending your team, instead of spending their NK ending your team.

Hunter's pic attempt was for a previous avatar of his, not of CarrionCrow.

See my answer to mchack. It's best not to rely on scum NKing each other as they may well try to take out town first (at least on N1) if they feel reducing the total number of scum may be bad for them.

I see I am well on my way to being the prettiest princess, Krypsyn will be so jealous ;)

I’d agree with first statement, I think this setup gives incentive to scum hunt as well (with some sincerity rather than putting up an act) given that there’s 2 teams at play. About second part, wanted to link to carrioncrow’s post so dedo could look at his avatar as well. It was a gif iirc but I’m on an iPad so couldn’t check meself.
