drmike: I;m using the GoG Downloader. Have yet to see Galaxy.
Same here.

Just dl'd like 12 games the other day, that I had bought in the current sale (yikes I know); all just fine with the Good Old GOG Downloader.

That will be a big sad day for me, is when that stops working (whether gradually or suddenly).
It actually happened. It had to at some point.
I for once forgot clicking "classic installers" and downloaded 5GB of Galaxy infected crap...

F*** YOU, GOG Galaxy!

Question, why? Why not install through that installer after unticking the Galaxy checkbox in options? Is it better to download the whole installer from scratch?
If you didn't download to install but to keep a backup, feel free to ignore the question.

What we need is a really large purple banner across the front of the store page stating why not use the optional GOG classic installers...
Oddly enough, downloading the offline installers through Galaxy client seems to always download the versions that don't contain Galaxy. Though Armed & Dangerous defaulted to the French version installer which wasted a couple gigs download and I had to redownload it again.

That's not really odd in my eyes. Wouldn't make any sense to download Galaxy over and over again, when it's already installed on your computer.

Guess I figured they'd assume one would want Galaxy installers if one was using Galaxy. Maybe it's just me. :P

However the reverse is of course totally not odd, making the default to download installers with Galaxy each time (not just once), when the likelihood is those using that method don't want it in the first place.

I wouldn't say it's odd, but it's certainly very bad design and was a very bad decision by GOG. Don't think you will find anyone here who disagrees.

Seems you are trying to use logic when analysing GOGs business decisions, but that won't get you far. Try thinking of the most stupid idea that comes to mind and then you are close to the way of GOGs decision making. And remember to never back down from your point. Why install an option to make non drm infested files the default? Right. That wouldn't be the most stupid idea.
