So my question is if a video game is sold on one place, but not another place where you purchase them like gog.com or on Steam or lets bring console exclusive video games like SONY's never being sold on PC, does it hurt you?

People tell me just purchase a PlayStation 4 (PS4) to play SONY's video games and I say back I'm not wasting $400 dollars $300 dollars (USD) on a PlayStation 4 (PS4) and then another $60 dollars (USD) per video game to play on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) when i can use that $300 dollars (USD) to purchase more video games on PC from gog.com or Steam or whatever.

Like if SONY ever released God of War (2018) and Detroit: Become Human for sale for PC and on gog.com and on Steam I would purchase it, but until then SONY will never see my money until I die.

The same I say about Electronic Arts (EA's) Origin and Activision-Blizzards Battle.net.

Destiny and Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII being sold on gog.com and on Steam as well would be better for us customers.

What is it with people saying just go make a Battle.net account it's free? I know it's free I have it for World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft only.

Some people even go further to say if you want it just buy it, but I will tell them I want it but I will not buy it until it is sold where I purchase from only.

It is already annoying I have to launch every time I turn my PC on Steam, Electronic Arts (EA's) Origin Epic Games launcher, and Ubisoft's Uplay, and Battle.net. I just want to launch one or two just to play video games.

Can someone from gog.com please fix cars to cares in the title name?

Nope! If it is sold where ever and I want it then I'll buy it.I don't care who sells it or where it is sold,I'll buy it as I don't discriminate except for Steam. And there is always a way to get them and if Gog don't sell them then ''tough'' for them.
Well it doesn't really "hurt me" in the sense of injury, as videogames are entertainment and there's many other fish in the sea, though it does irk me sometimes when I can't get a certain game I want.

Like I alluded to in another thread, I would loooove to play Splatoon, but it's not on PC and I don't have a Switch or Wii U.

And I'm still waiting for the Wild ARMs games to come to PC. I hear they won't ever because Sony has a stake in them, though.

(also "cars" isn't the only typo in the thread title)

I agree. To summarise, exclusives can eat a dick. Holding a piece of software that's perfectly capable of running on all platforms hostage so consumers are forced to buy your piece of hardware/sign up for your digital storefront rather than letting them compete on their own merits just stifles competition and wastes everyone's time and money.

Though personally, it's not so much publishers that do it that pisses me off most. While I would love to be able to play Mario and Zelda on something that isn't a gimmick console, I will admit that I already have access to more games right this second than I could ever finish in an entire lifetime, to say nothing of future releases. It's fellow consumers that defend exclusives when it's for their favourite platform that really shits on my nipples. It doesn't actually benefit them personally in any way, and if anything hurts them in the long term as it lessens the pressure from competition to keep said platform good, but they've bought into this faux-tribalist mentality where they feel like a corporation that sees them as nothing more than a wallet is a part of their very identity. It's absolutely brain dead and I really don't understand it.

On the PC, I prefer GOG, but I can accept steam. I avoid other platforms. As for consoles, they make no sense to invest in in my case.

For me, anything DRM-free is on the same "level", basically -- GamersGate DRM-free (that's the web store, not the similarly-named flamewar), GOG, Humble Store DRM-free, itch.io, JAST USA, Playism, and various publishers' own web stores.

After that, Steam, and theoretically Origin and Uplay except I haven't had any need to use them yet. Also anything that sells only a Steam key.

If I can get something DRM-free, I've resolved I'll get it that way, rather than going with a Steam key even if it's cheaper.
I don't know actually. Having just seen a trailer for red dead redemption 2, it may well tempt me - many years down the line - to get a PS4. Obviously not now when they are still high price, but if you get the game in a box and do not need internet but can just play it, I have no problem. I have two ps3's (both brought real cheap) for titles such as red dead redemption and god of war. So once the console lot move onto the next big thing I will likely pick one up.

Hard to say if it "hurts" me. But there is a good number of games which I would have bought (but didnt) if there would have been a DRM free PC version of them. So from my POV at least it "hurts" those who make/sell them.

I tend to avoid small stores, they don't get updated as frequently (or ever) and you never know when they go bust (see Desura).
It doesn't hurt me as much as it hurts sales (mine), since depending on the type of store (e.g. if there is forced DRM) I might pass on that game.

Same here. It's like an entire generation are stuck in the 80's / 90's Sega vs Nintendo world. Tribal nonsense for post-2012 consoles makes even less sense ever since consoles stopped being about custom "better than PC" hardware that could run 'plug & play' directly off the cartridge / disc, and are now just glorified low-end PC's in all but name running cut-down W10 / FreeBSD OS's with budget AMD Jaguar CPU's locking them to 30fps, that need installing / patching / updating multiple times, etc. Reading reviews of 2.5" SSD's / 2TB HDD's on Amazon shows an entire industry of people discussing opening up their consoles with a screw-driver to upgrade their SATA HDD's, etc, absolutely no different to PC's. It's almost comical no console owner can see that modern consoles now are low-end x86 PC's but no-one wants to admit it due to fear of exclusives losing some imiginary "specialness"...

I don't care as much about updates, but I guess you have a point about going bust.

Though that can be mitigated by downloading everything once one gets the chance.
Every exclusive on another platform prevents me going totally broke... It's hard enough as it is. ;-)
I only ever paid for physical games or here at GOG.com. Some of those game discs were tied to Steam, so in a way I have given Steam money. Now enough games are sold at GOG that I can easily stick to buying only here. Old enough that there is no game I must have.
I don't car, so it doesn't really affect me.
