Now that it's exactly one year since the "good news" moment, I'm taking the opportunity to do this properly, since I haven't really been updating the post on the regional-priced games thread anymore, in part because the list had grown too big and it'd have required splitting anyway.

This list complements IAmSinistar's regional-priced games and regional-discounted games lists. Anyone (who still gives a damn about what GOG used to / should still be) wanting to extend the boycott to the companies that make use of this system and not merely to the games themselves can look here. (Alternately, if you want to encourage the good deeds of the evil guys, you can take this as a list of games to buy instead of one to boycott. Do feel that a far better move would be to only buy from those who stick to flat pricing completely though.) Possibly also useful for anyone wanting to figure out where the cutoff point is in terms of game age or whatever other criteria some companies use to determine what's regionally priced or not.

The flat-priced games that have regional-pricing publishers and/or developers will be listed alphabetically, with the first two lists being restricted to those where those companies have at least one game regionally-priced in at least one region other than RU, UZ, UA and/or BR, while the second will include those that are regionally-priced only in RU, UZ, UA and/or BR, which are the areas that get noticeably discounted prices. Check Table VIII on MaGog Metrics for the exact countries included in each region.
Then, with the restrictions stated previously, the first list includes the games that have a publisher and/or developer with at least one game that makes users from at least one region pay more than the standard (US) price, with the second listing those where this is not the case, all regional prices being in fact regional discounts. Third list includes games with publishers and/or developers with at least one game (also) discounted in BR and/or UA, while the fourth those discounted in RU/UZ only.
Below the games lists, in the third post on the thread, there's a list of the companies that have any regionally-priced games, whether or not they also have any flat-priced ones. More details pending, but MaGog Metrics Table VII serves very well already.
Let's hope I won't end up needing more posts for this...

Totals: 138 regionally-priced entries, involving 101 companies (110 if you include different names and subsidiaries), which together have a total of 268 entries.

Related mixes pending updates.

As always, let me know if I missed anything.

If you double post within 10 minutes of last post, the posts will merge. Either make a thread explaining the concept and asking others not to post until you finish with your first X posts (do add a couple of placeholders as well I'd suggest), or ask someone to place buffers for you, though that means you won't be able to edit those posts.

What is the point of this?

Thanks. Now thanks to your post, just split off the companies at least.

For starters, for anyone (who still gives a damn about what GOG used to / should still be) wanting to extend the boycott to the companies that make use of this system and not merely to the games themselves. Possibly also for anyone wanting to figure out where the cutoff point is in terms of game age or whatever other criteria some companies use to determine what's regionally priced or not. Had a "list of shame" post on the regionally-priced games thread where I was putting these so far.

It's very simple. People dislike regional pricing. They think it's bad. Sinistar's thread lists all the bad games from bad companies, so that people can boycott by not buying them.
THIS thread is a list of good games from bad companies, which is useful for people who want to boycott everything.

The general purpose seems simple: convince companies that they should make all their games regionally priced. After all - if people are going to boycott them no matter what, there's no point in holding back. "If you're gonna cry anyway, I might as well give you something to cry about".

Punishing "bad" people for doing good things is one of the most perverted understandings of justice I have ever come across.
"- Why should we punish this guy?
- He's evil.
- How do you know he's evil?
- He does evil things.
- He's not doing anything evil NOW!
- Exactly - "now". He will be doing evil things soon enough.
- How do you know that?
- Because he's evil, and evil people do evil things. Duh."
Circular logic, self-fulfilling prophecy, etc, etc...

The next logical step in this all-or-nothing mentality is to boycott GOG entirely for allowing any regionally-priced games here at all.

Vestin:
Was at that "next logical step" a few times so far (when they first mentioned regional pricing, when they switched some previously flat-priced games to regional pricing, and then when they re-added those two older previously removed games with regional pricing). Seem to keep poking back, with a worse and worse grudge and definitely no support left for them.

Also, do note that those companies don't usually tend to add new flat-priced games. Once they go the regional route, they tend to stay there with new releases, flat-priced being just the old ones (except those that switched those too to regional pricing...). One exception to this was 1C, which had a brief standard regional pricing for the latest King's Bounty, then removed it and left only the "Russian discount".

Alternately, however, if you want to encourage the good deeds of the evil guys, you can take this as a list of games to buy instead of one to boycott. Do feel that a far better move would be to only buy from those who stick to flat pricing completely though.
I understand better now, I think. Maybe. It's so understated. We all have to find our evils somewhere, I guess.

It's still quick and easy. Fighting against something by basically doing nothing (as in, not buying certain games in this particular case, saving both money and time).
Let me tell you, when I went to look for a few clothes last month, it was a fair bit more difficult to check what they were made of and where and that the company didn't have current actions against it due to environmental issues or working conditions. But in this corporate-run world, voting with your wallet can be quite effective... As long as enough people would do it.

Even though the regional pricing thing is clearly not something that bothers me, I will always applaud someone with principles.
It looks like terrorism.
You threaten to different companies to ignore theirs product if they will not follow your recommendations on business practices.
You demand free people to give up theirs freedom to sell theirs products for price they want.
You are a terrorist.

Impressive work.

BTW, I have recently added the ability to link directly to each table on the metrics page.
Here are the links for tables VII and VIII:

http://www.an-ovel.com/pages/ma_mtrc.php#TableVIII

So you might want to update your OP links (or not).

Thanks, and done... Though it doesn't seem to work, probably because the tables are populated after the page loads?

And error loading file again, so it wasn't because it was during updating...

Sorry. Seems to be a bug in the matrix table update, which causes the metrics page to malfunction while the information is being collected, rather than just during the instantaneous update itself. Should be fixed in an hour or so. Sorry for the inconvenience.
