Are there still those around who've enjoyed it earlier... i mean what a game?! Predators shot by speedy bikes at point blank range.... Surviving everything i can throw at it, whirlwinds, bolter fire ... only the tank gun gets lucky now and then...

there is really nothing these days that even comes remotely close, with realistic feeling firing ranges and LOS, maybe the new microprose game, what was it again, 2d front? implements those decent but most games fall short by either managing to the impression of a faulty map size or use oversized icons!

or am i missing a tbs game atm where you have acces to the same features, such as "real life" scaling
Had another one right in my collection, also warhammer, Sanctus Reach, turn based tactics btw no tbs
I tried the first mission some weeks ago. I hope to resume it in the very near future. It's a genre that I find absorbing but difficult and time-consuming.

did the orc bikers get to you too?

but yea same here, there are not many games out there that seem to capture that specific challenge well... more in real time then turn based i guess ... and always warhammer :D total war warhammer trilogy ( almost trilogy ) or gladius, armageddon... all games where range can really mean a lot and is implemented quite well. So many total war battles that include artillery really point towards the damage potential of those sets, only from that standpoint alone i'm lobbying for quite some years to change their everlasting 20 stack setup... one army should at least contain 30 stacks with 4 optional fixed artillery slots and at least 10 fixed tier 1 unit slots ( be it horses archers or infantry ) note : this does not mean you are obliged to take a long 34 units but ... i guess at a certain point it would be smart ;)

Star General ( SSI ) is the only other game i actually noticed where the range game really takes up some thinking

that is a strategy game good sir following the panzer general scope with is a mumbo jumbo of either strategic or tactical scope fighting in a fantasy enviroment. I'm talking about games where everything has the right scale eg tanks are bigger then humans etc etc etc of course the shooting range in armageddon is implemented quite well.... Basilisks at 7 range laser tanks do 5 i belief normal tanks at 4 infantry at 2 unless armed with rockets ... 3? funny thing is.. those whirlwhind configured apc's do 3 in armageddon while in both sanctus and apparently final liberation they have a far more realistic reach

ha , maybe i should have done that one too.... Had airplane picking up some troopers after which it couragously moved up to the frontline, when arrived over there i tried to unload the troops but this ended in a weird frustrated dance where the plane moved up and down in the air following my arrow while i tried to order a load out... soon the movement points ran out and boom, an orc biker team showed up mowing my precious plane with its less precious cargo from the sky!

anyways, love how your able to use detachment turns ( all infantry, all tanks, all planes ) in stead of the normal turns where you move everything at once and then your op has his turn
