Good news for Final Fantasy fans on PC, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the remake of the PSP game of the same name previously available only on next-gen consoles, is coming to the PC after all. Not much information is available at the moment but it should be coming soon.

Personally, I was in the mood for a Final Fantasy game and this one looked good so I almost bought it on the PS4, but decided to wait to see if Square Enix's recent trend of porting FF games to PC would extend to games that weren't several years old.

Frankly, the best part about this news is the strong indication that Final Fantasy XV will probably come to PC as well, even if not at launch.
I wonder how much will they charge considering that they don't have the FF15 demo incentive...
And I was about to emulate it. Looked very interesting.

Obligatory. Would be more relevant if it DOES come with FF15 demo on PC.

Improved battle and camera controls is a good incentive though as that is what most people complained about regarding the HD remastered edition.

Good to see more FF games on PC so hopefully we'll also get FF X and X-2 HD as well later on and who knows maybe even FF XV eventually.

How the feck were you planning on doing that? It's PS4/Xbox One only!

Unless you're talking about the Japanese PSP version, in which case: brush up on those Japanese skills bucko.

There was an english fan translation for PSP ver. (released albeit scummishly). That and I study the language.. kanji is the worst..

FF Type-0 intro mercilessly made me cry as it was so emotional. Story might be good, it resembles FF 8 somewhat - it features Academy (FF 8's Garden?), Class Zero (SeeD?) and Mother (Matron?).

However I didn't play much after 1st Mission. Gameplay is fully arcade, based on manual dodging and comboing like in fighting games. This and having to replay through the game several times to see all content was quite demotivating.

Cons of arcade system lead to such things as very primitive magic system (you can equip only couple (!) spells), you can use one and only one kind of item in battle (chose to use Potion? No Ether for you)., pause system doesn't help at all, you can't control your party members at all, and they have horrible AI (healer will let you die, damage dealer will often stand still), you are heavily discouraged to play melee-type of character, etc.

I wish they'd bring pre-XIII Final Fantasies before they went full Action/Arcade mode and perhaps made Final Fantasy XVI with true turn-based or ATB system, available on both PS4 and PC. FF Type-0 and XV have nothing to do with main FF series except name.

If you haven't fired up final fantasy dimentions then shame on you.
For me FF died after they quit turn based combat, and replaced it with that action-based shit.. (Ff 10 and above)
But, eh i can try type 0 when it will be cheap. FF always got a good story.

FF X actually had true turn-based combat.

12 is my favorite game in the entire series period.

Is it coming to "PC" or is it going to "Steam"? Different platforms.

And 6/7 for sure didn't have turn-based combat (they were the definitive ATB games)

Probably available to download directly from the Square Enix store as well.

They didn't but they still resembled turn-based and could be properly paused to choose what item/spell/summon to use. Final Fantasy Type-0 plays entirely as Arcade game (manual dodging, 1 button per ability) and you control only 1 characters (other 2 pretend to be AI controlled). Same for FF XV by looks from demo. And if you don't have good reflexes and timing - prepare to grind like crazy.

Very first boss in Type-0 2-shots you (1st shot removes like 90% health and knocks you back, so you can't avoid 2nd shot) if you are bad with timing and manual dodging. And that is just the beginning. That is exactly NOT how Final Fantasy games are supposed to play at all. ATB and menu/stat-driven combat is miles different from arcade combat in FF Type-0 and XV.
