Ugh, can you do anything about that disgusting smeared filter over the 2D backdrops? The improved character models don't mean anything if the rest looks worse than the original.

Senteria: I just don't understand why SE doesn't bring their FF games here. Only the old eidos games they nearly forgot about were sent here. What's holding them back from releasing their actual SE games here? Are they that afraid of piracy? Well you can find a torrent of their games online anyway. So what gives?
Probably in their heads even more piracy?

Squeenix is under the delusion that DRM increases sales.

Take your pick:

1) They consider DRM profitable:

2) Massive regional locking that GOG would rather not enforce for fear of backlash (just look at what happened with threads that announced regional locking like Bethesda's 2nd wave or Dying Light)
3) GOG might have not actually signed a deal with Square Enix, but with Square Enix Europe, who only have the rights to Eidos' catalog.
4) A combination of the above.

This I didn't realise... I guess that truly does rule out seeing Deus Ex continued here.

I'm not saying this definitely happened, but it's a possibility. Edited my post above for clarity.

As for Mankind Divided, I guess Square Enix might apply Denuvo to it like they did with Just Cause 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Yeah the chances of any Final Fantasy game appearing on gog are pretty much 0%

I am actually expecting Denuvo from any major release from now on from Squeenix. :/

paladin181: Always a pleasure riling you up.

PookaMustard: Whatever.

I can almost guarantee you any Square game has DRM on it in mobile too. Chaos Rings, despite being free of Google play DRM, has a file check upon EVERY SINGLE START UP. I don't own any of the FF games on mobile because of this... Even though I bought several of the DQ games on sale recently and they're not as bad.

PookaMustard: It's quite of a mixed bag actually. Square Enix either does DRM their games on Android, or doesn't DRM their games on Android. I've heard reports that FFVI used to have license checks and all that lovely jazz, but now the thing only runs straight away on Google Play.

One must be cautious when buying a Squeenix game. I'll be waiting for someone to prove me wrong or correct, that FFIX on Android isn't DRM'd. Otherwise, emulation's always there.
See the photo attached.
From what I gathered, it's only used when you're downloading game data.

Wooo.
So I take it that once the game is downloaded, you can copy the APK and downloaded data and install them somewhere else without the internet?

Possibly. Depends on how that license check actually works. Some games will start and send a big red x up if you don't own the game through Google Play. It is not necessarily just at start-up. Not that I think you'll pirate any games, but rather copy from one device with it on an account to another device that you solely own without the same account. I do the same thing a lot since my phone is a work phone. One could buy it and try to use Helium to back it up from one device to the other and see if it starts or if it will license check on start.

I'm almost certain that the answer is yes.
I have multiple Androids, namely my phone, my gaming tablet, and an Android VM, so figuring out whether it will spit an error because there's a pesky license check is easy. What's not easy however, is spending $21 and hoping that I'm not going to use Helium/Titanium Backup just to keep an always-offline profile.

That, or hopefully Lucky Patcher can save the day. I dunno.
