I 've beaten the main game again, now time to rush into expansions! I hadn't finished them back in the day, now in GoG edition i am going to enjoy this!! I was wondering, which weapon do you fancy the most in the entire game? And what 3 weapons you try to always carry on you at all times?

I myself liked "Particle Weapon" the best. A guaranteed fatality, blood all around, charred skeleton remain is only left behind to remind of foe. Headshot is instakill, except for heavily armored enemies. Great range, heavy damage, plus if you combine with reflexes, you can kill the most nasty enemies, like turrents, drones or giant robot-suits, before they can even hit you! And great accuracy, too. This little wonder combines everything, with only a slight decrease in speed and movement as a trivial tradeoff.

I always carry for basic and primary weapon, the "Penetrator". I like staking heads on walls and its speed+accuracy is great. No one needs more than 2-5 stakes to drop dead, plus the more armored the enemy, the bigger the damage it receives. Great fatality and animation, also.

Assault Rifle. Your basic, most basic, automatic shooter weapon. Average in all fields, better than the submachinegun (especially in accuracy and damage), can carry lots and lots of ammo, many enemies carry it, the most basic and convenient, average weapon you can get.

Those 3 are my choice throughout the entire game. I briefly used the zooming rifle when and where it was available, but quickly got back to my assault again...

I didn't like the rocket launcher, which is my personal favorite in almost all shooters (that have one)... 3 rockets at the same time (wastes ammo quickly), not that much spectacular damage (especially compared to particle), ammo is scarce and rare, plus rockets do not fly too straight and are not very reliable for landing a hit, at least directly. Hand cannon was disappointing too, you have to be far from the target.

The ASP Rifle which imo should have been used more often.

Also the shotgun. One of the best FPS shotguns ever. It just has that raw "boom" feeling. Another shotgun all liked was the Doom 3 one.
All I remember is the shotgun. xD
Shotgun was really good. Yet, i always needed distance... :(

Good damage, though. Helped me fell quickly and easily the very first heavy armors!

The Penetrator aka the Nailgun. It's just fun to nail your enemies (or parts of them) to some wall!

Aye that, the shotgun is very effective in this game.

I tend to keep the shotgun in the first slot, and the assault rifle in the third slot, then favor the "Particle weapon" in the second slot, but swap out the other weapons in this slot to vary the gameplay.

All the weapons seem to be effective, even the pistol, or better yet duel pistols.

I'm mid-way through the second expansion, it is very combat intensive compared to the main game, so be prepared for lots of firefights.
Proximity mine. I quicksave after finding one, use it, enjoy the show, reload, repeat. There's one particular level where I did that seven or eight times in a row. I just love how it jumps up into the air and explodes, tearing enemies to shreds.

For primary weapons, I actually really like the dual pistols. I always have them. There's something satisfying about shooting the enemies with the pistols while running in slow mo. It's as if I'm saying "Yeah, I took you down with the weakest weapon in the game, suck it". I actually do that in a lot of games.

The trick is, I can't use the pistols all the time or it gets annoying because you to have to click for each shot. But, when used for maybe one or two enemies per level, it's quite enjoyable. It's kind of how pineapple is my favorite fruit, but only infrequently and in small amounts.

Oh, and I really enjoy playing Fear without the hud.
Asp. I like playing with new toys, but I save the best parts for the Asp.
I liked the pistol/s, the assault rifle (looks like the machine gun G36), and the gun that impales people to the wall. Yeah, I remember none of the names, but those three were pretty good for me. Of course, near the end I mostly had the big guns, but those three felt the best and comprised my regulars whenever possible.
The one that nails them to the wall.

I've never understood why people enjoyed that one. I think it feels unsatisfying to fire, and as far as the nailing guys to walls goes, the stakegun in Painkiller did it way better.

It's extremely accurate and deadly, you can strafe round a corner, turn on "slow-down" and take out a couple of soldiers before they even know what's going on. Like a mini sniper rifle.

Pretty much this.

As far as my favorites, The Penetrator is my favorite, just above the shotgun. I don't have an opinion one way or the other on the other weapons, they're all pretty functional.
Actually, I'd call the penetrator a "mid-range sniper rifle", it's obv inferior to the ASP at long-range, but indoors in halls (which is let's face pretty much all FEAR except a few fights) it's great for taking out enemies in slomo before a firefight even begins.
I have not played this for a long time, so my memory is a little blurry, but my ranking would be:
1) The nailer: precision, power and nailing foes by the balls to the wall is lulz.
2) Shotgun: keep it simple, stoopid.
3) Akimbo guns: with slo-mo you can feel like Max Payne. I really like akimbo guns in any game, so even if they end up sucking a bit at the end, I try to hoard them as much as I can.

Special mention: that one that turns people into skeletons. Even if in praxis I didn't love it, the cool factor on this one is significant.

Couldn't agree more on the rocket launcher part with you. I wasn't this dissapointed since I stepped on a dragon in dragonborn.

Edit: Is the nailer called penetrator? +1 for the lulz again
