MadalinStroe: On GOG there is a huge package containing ?all DLC?, but is any of it game affecting?

Grargar: Trails of Cold Steel and Ys VIII, both games made by Falcom, do not have any sort of content DLC (that is, extra stories or characters). The DLCs are either cosmetic in nature (costumes and accessories) or cheat packs of sorts (extra cooking materials, healing potions, weapon crafting materials, status-protecting accessories). Erpy does a more-in-depth explanation of the nature of the DLCs for Trails of Cold Steel (and it's a similar situation with Ys VIII):

Thank you, Grargar, you have an amazing memory! +1 ;)
I've found myself unable to get into Fate. Even after having the concept and premise explained a few times, I don't really see the appeal.

I've probably got Dragon Ball burnout, so an entire series centered around a fight for something just doesn't seem that fun?

I mean sure there's also the eroge the whole series started as, but I feel that was lost by the time it became a Gacha game.
I've been playing the gacha game on Android for about six months, and I love it.

Not quite as much as this guy, though:

Gylfe: The DLC are costumes only, they give no advantage or alter the game in any way and are completely dismissable. They are different costumes for the legendary heroes from the various wars, animes, and novels. Theyre basically for serious fans of the series that want their legendary hero to have a look from a specific story.

Like the other Xseed games, there are a bunch of unecessary dlc, but it would be a shame to dismiss every good game because it has dlc that does not alter the gameplay in anyway, and no part of the game is behind a paywall. Its cosmetics dlc like all the other Xseed games on GoG. This dlc is the type I dont mind because it is purely cosmetic and people arent being screwed out of content by it existing like with most games with dlc. Im not sure if Im aware of any major release in the past three years or more without some form of dlc, and usually its content youre screwed out of if you dont buy, but not in this case.

MadalinStroe: I didn't know that the DLC is cosmetic items exclusively. You can't blame me for finding a way to sift through the huge amount of games that are being released. Of course some games will be judged unfairly and dismissed, but its a coping mechanism, it isn't like the publishers are taking extreme care to mention what DLC piece is cosmetic exclusive, and what isn't. Now that you mentioned that all the DLC is inconsequential, I'm keeping a link to the game, though of course getting it on GOG would be ideal.

I also didn't know that all the DLC on GOG is also inconsequential. I'm assuming you're talking about The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II, which I also dismissed, unless I would have been able to get it as a complete edition. Would you happen to know anything about Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA DLC? On GOG there is a huge package containing ?all DLC?, but is any of it game affecting?
I'm not blaming you, I am annoyed with content being cut from the games and put behind a paywall. I was just informing you that the Fate/Extella dlc, while ridiculously extensive at 33, is only cosmetic and completely avoidable.

I was referring to the Ys and Trails series games. I know they have some poms and stuff on GoG, but mostly you can completely disregard the dlc and not miss anything. It's more dlc to help you customize your game.

As far as Ys VIII, I haven't purchased it myself yet, so I haven't sifted through all the dlc. I did look at it briefly and I think it's mostly cosmetic with some poms and stuff to avoid a grind, but I won't say for sure because I haven't looked at it in a while.

Thank you for the link! Yes, the Fate/Extella dlc is completely cosmetic. They don't even have poms or anything, just additional costumes. That kind of dlc is ok for me since it doesn't cut out any part of the game, but just gives you more options to customize your game.

I did purchase about five or six of the dlc for Fate/Extella on sale, which was the Stay Night costumes and one additional one.

I would at least check out the anime! It won't cost you anything more than about 20 min to watch an episode. They're all on Netflix, but I'm sure you can find them elsewhere if you don't have it. I would start with either Stay Night or Zero. Zero is a prequel to Stay Night and are the first two in the series. While Zero and Stay Night are connected by story, Apocrypha and Last Encore are not connected and are new stories.

I have it, but haven't gotten around to trying it yet. I kind of written off mobile games after SW Galaxy of Heroes, it just really left a bad taste in my mouth. I do play mobile games that are a one-time purchase, like X-Com or Knights of the Old Republic though.
