Recently I saw The Simpsons movie again and one scene in particular, with the weirdly trimmed hedge ;) , made me think how awesome it would've been to experience that scene first hand in a stacked theater. The only thing better than laughing your ass off is laughing your ass of with a hundred other people :D

Any notable ones you had the privilege of experiencing? What was it like?

Off the top of my head there are several famous scenes that I would've loved to experience first hand:
- The Basic Instinct scene
- Jurassic Park kitchen scene
- Yoda preparing to fight Darth Sidious
- Alien chest burst scene
- Matrix bullet dodge scene

Speaking of which, has any theater anywhere done this : showing of old films? If any local theater started having screenings of old films like Taxi Driver, Jaws, Terminator, old Bond films or whatever, I would spend a lot more time there than at the regular movie theater.

Saw all of the above in the theater. And tons more (too many to list)

One of the multiplex theaters close to where I live does this. It's a great way to catch a classic that you never saw before, relive an old experience, or introduce it to family/friends that didn't see it originally.
I would like to watch few scenes from Good Luck Chuck. :P

Few scenes from Transformers series (and M.Bay movies), Gravity, Star Trek series, Dredd, Watchmen and few scenes of tv series Fringe and Lost are worth watching on big screen.
I can remember the original Tim Burton Batman. (Yeah me!)

<The Mask

Sin City and Watchmen and of course the Matrix, several times.

Also Rambo 4. Well, because it's Rambo 4. And I must have seen Terminator 2 at the cinema, the opening scene of the future war surely counts for two scenes.

There's several great scenes in all of those. Lately it's usually only 007 that can drag me into the cinema.

This scene can only truly be appreciated in all it's glory on the Big Screen with full Surround cranked up
Oh, my mum actually saw Dr. No.

I had to say, "You actually saw Dr. No at the theaters? O_o"

She said "Yep"
Pan's Labyrinth - Pale Man scene (this would have given me nightmares had I been a kid, as an adult I just love the art direction in this)
I........among a full theatre of people, experienced this scenefollowed by a whole sniffing that endured the full time..........only to being hammered with this following scene.................that rendered a full theatre of puckered mouthes and uncontrolling crying by adults and children alike.................traumatized for life, there were even kindergarten teachers with full classrooms...............I bet they had to dry up the place afterwards. @_@

Ooooh yes definitely, I wish I could see this again on a big screen and the same goes for the siege at Helm's Deep

Indeed. While I'm usually not that big a fan of Del Torro's work, that movie is fucking excellent. Saw it at the cinema at release. :)
luke, I'm your father :)
the shock and horror lol
E.T. phone home.

Omaha beach from Private Ryan.
One very memorable cinema experience I recall was going to see Natural Born Killers. We were about 6 people who went to see it in a big cinema in Copenhagen. The cinema was full, and when the movie ended, everyone got up and filed out without saying a word, both the six of us and everyone else. We were all too stunned. We didn't start speaking to each other until we'd walked about 100 meters. Then we started talking. We went to a bar (just the six of us, not everyone else ;-)) and sat and talked about the movie for a good while. It was awesome.
The "drug deal" scene from Boogie Nights. Night Ranger blasting from the speakers and the firecrackers (with the help of the theater surround sound) going off all around, and Dirk sitting there on the couch, puzzled, desperate, strung out. A masterpiece of film making and nothing can duplicate seeing it in a theater.

Nice thread! :D

I'm not very creative so I'll just echo some of the great ones already listed (I'm sure there are more but these were ones that really jumped out for me as well):

Saving Private Ryan - certainly one of the most intense movie openings I've ever seen wrapped in a beautiful movie. The scenes with the old Pvt. Ryan returning with his family are incredible.

The Matrix - about a dozen scenes but especially the Lobby Shootout and a fight or two with the Agents

Lord of the Rings Two Towers and Return of the King - Siege of Helm's Deep and the skirmishes on the way there, Minas Tirith and Osgiliath. The living, breathing epic cities and fortifications they were able to create for those movies are amazing

Jurassic Park - not just on the big screen, but at a drive in! I remember the frightening darkness and the deep bass of the T-rex and high pitched almost metallic shriek of the raptors pumped through the car speakers more than anything

Attack of the Clones - Yoda whipping out his little green lightsaber and duking it out with Dooku (see what I did there? ;) )

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - really just the entirety of this movie. Still a standout in my mind.

Yes I'm a bit of a geek and see appropriately geeky movies ;) I'm sure there are a bunch more I'm missing, particularly the older films but these stood out right now as I'm remembering them (probably because of the help in previous thread posts!).

Oh one more! The first Fast and the Furious - I'm not even a "car scene" person but something about the glitz and glimmer of those shiny high tech import rockets was just a gorgeous thing!
