Played it through completely about 12 months ago and really liked it. I suppose the closest thing to compare to is games like Heroes of Might and Magic, but with a light historical flavor instead of fantasy. So it's turned based movement on a strategy map which switches to turn based tactical combat for battles.
The history is really more of a romanticized version of Spanish conquest rather than true accuracy, but it's good fun.
Yeah, it's cool. Nice tactical battles, plenty of roleplaying oppotunities that gives some life to your expedition, and a theme rarely touched by games. The camping minigame (you have to assign tasks -patrol, hunting, preserve food, scout for valuables...- to your conquistadores each evening) is somewhat repetitive, but otherwise, I really enjoyed it too.

It's a great game. Lots of various events that you may encounter during your travels and entertaining writing + there's the tactical battle system which is quite challenging.
So if you like unusual RPGs and good character management, or if you just like turn based squad tactics then you might like this game.
Love the game. One of my favorites. The camping mechanics get old after a while, but everything else is top drawer.
Just brought it :)
Its one of my favourite games on GoG. Think free-roaming Oregon Trail-flavoured exploration on an overland map, exploring 16th century Mexico with your household guard, and turn-based combat. Multiple dialogue/morality options, randomized and character-based events, well written dialogue, etc.
All good feedback. Thanks for letting me know!!
A hidden gem of a game :)
Logic Artists' are also working on new Expeditions game called Expeditions: Viking so Expeditions: Conquistador must have done well enough. Shame it only barely got funded during KS (77,247$ in pledges when intial goal was 70k$) as stretch goals would've extended the scope quite a lot, especially 100k and 160k one's.

Expeditions: Viking will focus on the local Viking landscape and that of Britannia in the late 700s, in that we place the player a few years before the raid at Lindisfarne.
