Can second (third?) that Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch and save without the client, out of the box, on Windows 10.
Thanks all for the updates.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider won't progress past the logos screen. The Epic Store will launch a popup asking for authentication and if you refuse, you will get stuck in a black screen. I tried various shortcut parameters, but the end result would always be the same.

That is SO great to hear. I own Rise of the Tomb Raider on Steam and could not even find a nosteam patch that was working with the actual release. I claimed the Epic version but had very little hope that it would be DRM-Free. Now (with the first one being on GOG), only the third one is missing this feature and I can abandon my Steam version for good.

Edit: Did you also try to launch Shadow while being offline? I remember that there were at least two games that needed this (or alternatively being blocked by firewall).

I've retested Shadow of the Tomb Raider with no internet connection. The website doesn't pop up anymore, but sadly I still just get the black screen after the company logos.

There's something else going on with this game. You can hear it starts up with jungle sounds and music in the background, you just can't see anything. And when you Alt+F4 to close it you can actually see the 'Quit Game?' prompt and the Yes or No options. Weird.

Hope they'll make this game launcher-free too with an update in the future. Tried to launch it through the Epic client, but couldn't be bothered when I had to permit them to share my display name, linked account display names and list of friends.

No dice. After the logos screen, I reach the main menu, but there is only music and a black screen.

Thank you both for testing it anyway. The only idea I still have is to shuffle arounf files that have the same name (not the pack files of course) between SOTT and ROTT with the vague hope that one of them includes the "non DRM" handling ... but it is a stretch I am aware.
Once again folks, thanks for all your testing and sharing results. :)

Are you saying you can only see the Shadow of the tomb raider?

Get it? get it? I'll see myself out now

Have a happy 2022 and pardon my lame joke
Kena: Bridge of Spirits supports offline mode and could be run without the launcher.
you just need to run Kena\Binaries\Win64\Kena-Win64-Shipping.exe with the -EpicPortal parameter

the game could also be made completely "DRM-free" by replacing the EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll with an version prior to v1.13..
(you could check the dll version in the details page of the file properties)

Can you confirm whether you have a similar experience to the user below (epic authentication popping up)?

a browser windows for the authentication pops up but this could be ignored. furthermore you get an ingame dialog that shows that the game runs in offline mode. savegames are also working.

Shadow doesnt work even if i accept the f**** confirmation. After accepting, the browser closes, but the game behaves just like before...stuck in a black screen with jungle music playing in the background..

Tried -EpicPortal, AUTH_LOGIN=0, AUTH_PASSWORD=0.

But like you said, none seems to work.

the browser popup could be prevented by using the parameter -DevPort but sadly that doesnt help to get the game working

SOTTR makes at least use of the following parameters:

-AUTH_LOGIN
-AUTH_PASSWORD
-AUTH_TYPE=exchangecode
-epicapp
-epicenv
-EpicPortal
-epicusername
-epicuserid
-epiclocale
-DevPort
-DevCredentials

(found this in the exe file)
Shadow of the Tomb Raider has a parameter -noepic but the game quits if i start to play :-(
